Here's the Status of Malia White and Tom Checketts' Relationship From 'Below Deck Med'
The following story contains spoilers from the recent season of Below Deck Mediterranean.
After a controversial history with the hit Bravo franchise, Malia White is back for season five of Below Deck Mediterranean. Fans of the show might remember her as the deckhand from season 2 who found herself in a very messy love triangle between Wes (the bosun) and Adam (the chef), who both actively tried pursuing her throughout the season. While she eventually found love with Wes, it wasn’t long before the couple eventually split.
Three years after her boatmance went wrong, Malia’s taking charge as bosun and seemingly found love again with a fellow yachtie, chef Tom Checketts. According to a confessional on the show, the two met while working on a boat and have since traveled the world together. Now, the couple works alongside each other after Malia convinced him to take the place of former chef Kiko Lorran. With Checketts’ experience working in fine dining (he worked under Gordon Ramsay back in the day), who better to join the crew than him? Well…in hindsight, Malia might have other ideas.
Are Malia and Tom still together?
Sorry, folks—the boat romance between the bosun and chef sadly sank—and very recently, too. On September 28th's episode of Watch What Happens, Malia confirmed to host Andy Cohen that the two had split. "My understanding was that you kind of were open while you were away, and came back together, but maybe I was wrong?" Cohen asked. "I was wrong about that, too," she replied, insinuating that Tom may have had an affair while they worked on separate boats.
While she was mum on the details, as recently as mid-September, the twosome did appear to still be on good terms and apparently met up in London for a brief trip. But it looks like the happy reunion didn’t last long, as Malia posted this cryptic photo to her Instagram page shortly thereafter:

While we’ll never truly know what happened to cause the demise of their relationship (maybe it was their behaviors on-air that sank them?), at least we’ll have the rest of the season to see them basking in their short-lasting love.
