Here’s When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Will Be Reunited With the Royal Family

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will reportedly be back on British soil much sooner than expected.

The Sussexes shocked the world in early January, when they announced their big decision to step down as working members of the royal family. "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution," they wrote on Instagram at the time. "We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support her majesty the queen."

Soon after the announcement the couple relocated to Vancouver, but now, at the queen's request, Markle, Prince Harry, and baby Archie are reportedly taking a trip back to the U.K. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to the U.K. soon with Archie at the Queen’s request to join the royal family at the Commonwealth Service @wabbeyon March 9th," Sunday Times royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah tweeted.

"It comes as the Queen has urged the royal family not to obstruct Harry and Meghan’s aspirations for a new life, while negotiations continue over their deal to step down from royal life," she continued. "The Queen has said: 'If that’s what they want, if they want to go, we must let them go.'"

That means a reunion of the Sussexes, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, and the queen is mere weeks away. There have been endless rumors about the status of the relationships between Markle and Harry and the rest of the family, but regardless of what's going on behind the scenes, we'll likely see a united public front during the Commonwealth Day services at Westminster Abbey. The Sussexes and the Cambridges have attended the event together for the past two years.

It's unlikely we'll see Archie at the formal event as the royal children don't typically attend—though we'll keep our fingers crossed for a cousins outing with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis while the Sussexes are in town.
