Here's How Long 'A Haunting in Venice' Will Take to Hit Streaming Services, More or Less

A murder mystery... that's also a ghost story?? Color me spooked and hyped for A Haunting in Venice, the latest Hercule Poirot film from director Kenneth Branagh. Adapted from the Agatha Christie story Hallowe'en Party, the new whodunit introduces another iconic Christie character: mystery novelist Ariadne Oliver, played by Tina Fey. Joining them are Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Dornan, among others.

As you may or may not know, A Haunting in Venice is the third film in a series directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh as the Agatha Christie's mustachioed fictional detective. The two previous Poirot movies, Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, had equally impressive ensemble casts. (Though both previous films had actors who, around the time their respective films premiered, were in the news for unsavory reasons: Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.) That is *knocks on wood* happily not the case with A Haunting in Venice! The only ick you'll get is from the ghostly tale.

Where will A Haunting in Venice be streaming?

This is where I get to do my own detective work. The Poirot films were produced by 20th Century Studios, which is currently owned by Disney. In some countries, that means A Haunting in Venice could show up on Disney+, but in the United States it is most likely to ultimately drop on Hulu. While Murder on the Orient Express is only available to Hulu subscribers with Live TV, Death on the Nile is currently streaming on the service.

But is A Haunting in Venice on Hulu yet?

Well, no. The movie just opened in theaters! The average theatrical window is about a month these days. After that, it will likely be available to rent and buy on VOD (Amazon Prime, Youtube, Vudu, Google Play, etc.) for a short time before a streaming service gets it. I would guess A Haunting in Venice will be streaming sometime around December 2023, at the earliest.

Well... how can I watch A Haunting in Venice then?

Get to your local movie theater! Wear a mask if it helps! I know tickets are so much more expensive now... but you can always look for discounts, pay less for a matinee, or smuggle in your own snacks. In my opinion, it's ultimately worth it to see a movie with a crowd of strangers. Seeing movies in theaters is also a great, easy, and entertaining way to support the writers and actors currently on strike.

And if going to the theater just isn't in the cards for you, that's fine. I encourage, but I do not judge. There are plenty of other murder mystery movies and true crime podcasts to satiate your inner sleuth while you wait for A Haunting in Venice to hit streaming.
