So, is the post office open on Christmas Eve?
Not this year! Typically speaking, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) always remains open on Christmas Eve, as the mailing service observes Christmas Day as the holiday instead. However, Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday in 2023. With Sundays being the one day of the week the office is closed, the post office will not be open on Christmas Eve in 2023.
When it comes to the blue collection boxes, it's important to note that mail dropped off in those boxes should be done on the day before Christmas Eve this year (Saturday, December 23), more than likely earlier than usual.
Is the post office open on Christmas?
The post office will not be open on Christmas Day, which falls on Monday, December 25 this year, according to the the USPS. Yes, this also goes for those blue collection boxes, which will not see its regular mail picked up or delivered.
However, we do have to make note that there is technically an exception to this when it comes to Priority Mail Express®. Every year, some locations will take it upon themselves to deliver mail in this category, just without a guarantee unless the post office specifically reaches out about your delivery stating otherwise.
