UPDATE: 10/7/2022

ICYMI, on July 29, Charli D'Amelio's ex-BF Chase Hudson (aka Huddy) dropped “All The Things I Hate About You.” TikTok quickly speculated that the song was about Charli, with lyrics like “a showstopper, bad liar, homie hopper, drama starter,” allegedly calling the DWTS contestant out on dating Huddy's former best friend Landon Barker. Despite the reported shadiness of the sitch, it doesn’t seem like the song has bothered the clock app queen at👏 all 👏 .

During an October 5 episode of the BFFs podcast, Charli responded to the song allegedly written about her, "All The Things I Hate About You." When asked how she felt about the song by host Dave Portnoy, Charli clapped back saying, "I love that people think about me enough to write songs about me."

The subtle roast got the attention of her big sis Dixie D'Amelio who said "Oh God, you’re gonna regret that answer."

Charli further stuck with her answer, saying “I’m happy with my life right now, and I don’t regret anything that has happened.”

Chase Hudson (aka Huddy) released his new song titled "All The Things I Hate About You"on July 29 and TikTok hasn't been the same since. Since his ex-girlfriend Charli D'Amelio is now dating Landon Barker, social media is being flooded with theories that Chase may be jealous and written these lyrics to get back at her. For now, it’s all rumors and speculation, as Huddy hasn’t addressed who or what the song is about, but if you’re wondering what all the buzz is about, we’re breaking down the lyrics of Huddy's song for potential references to his past relationship.

But first, let's rewind for a second and go over Huddy and Charli D’Amelio's relationship timeline. The couple when they were both members of the TikTok group Hype House and dated from 2019 to early 2020.

But then in March 2020, members of another TikTok group, the Sway House, began to claim that Lil Huddy cheated on Charli. Sway House member, Josh Richard said that his girlfriend, fellow TikToker Nessa Barret, had received explicit DMs and pictures from Huddy. In response to Huddy's actions, Josh and his friend Bryce Hall made a diss track about Lil Huddy called, "Still Softish."

After the track came out, Chase and Charli posted Instagram stories on April 14, confirming that they had broken up. The two seemed to remain friends and and there was speculation that they had possibly gotten back together during May or June, but then more cheating rumors soon followed. Soon after, Charli took to Instagram and in a tear-filled Insta live stream, told her fans that she and Chase had a “very long talk” and realized that they weren’t right for each other.

Even though the couple was broken up, they remained close friends, with Huddy releasing the song "America's Sweetheart" and confirming to Elite Daily that the lyrics were about Charli. They continued to attend events together, with Chase even tagging along on some of Charli's family vacations.

In June 2022, internet sleuths started to accumulate clues pointing towards a possible blossoming relationship between Charli and Landon, Huddy’s close friend.

Now Huddy has dropped “All The Things I Hate About You” and many are theorizing it’s his response to his ex-girlfriend and former friend's relationship. If you're wondering what the lyrics mean and what references Huddy makes to Charli and Landon, check out our breakdown below.

[Verse 1]
Take a bow
You've got everybody fooled, I got you figured out
Now you’re chokin' on your words, well, you should spit it out
Know that I gave you the world and you just gave me hell
And you gave me hell

In these lines, Huddy describes feeling mistreated and manipulated, accusing the person he is singing about of moving public opinion against him.

[Pre-Chorus]
Felt like a hundred punches
Too many tough pills to stomach
I watched you making it public
Lights, camera, f*** it

The TikTok star describes the pain he's feeling, possibly from having found out about Charli and her new date (presumably Landon) from seeing it publicly, rather than either of them telling him personally.

[Chorus]
You're a showstopper
A bad liar, homie hopper, drama starter
All my friends are f*****, we all got you in common
You’re so fake and everyone should know about it
And all the things I hate about you.

[Post-Chorus]
All the things I hate about you, yeah
All the things I hate about the way you manipulate me
Left me with no explanation
Every word is true, all the things I hate about you
(All the things I hate about you).

The “homie hopper” phrase and the line "All my friends are f*****, we all got you in common" are the strongest possible reference to Charli, as her new BF Landon had been a close friend of Huddy's before their relationship started. The boys even starred in Machine Gun Kelly‘s Downfalls High together.

Huddy further cements that he has felt "left with no explanation" and manipulated in the post-chorus.

[Verse 2]
You could've had a rockstar
But you chose up on a bumstar
Bootleg version of me, that's your loss
Had to find out through a photo
Hangin' on your arm like a knockoff.

Seemingly expressing that he feels the person he's singing about chose wrong, Chase refers to the other person a bumstar.

[Chorus]

[Post-Chorus]

[Bridge]
You won’t break me again and say it’s all in my head
Holdin' his hand in that dress from the night that you left
I’m so sick of the pain, I'll never see you the same
Guess that's the price that you pay for the mess that you made.

If the song really is about Charli, it looks like there will be no reconciliation between her and Huddy. The singer also seems to reference this girl wearing the same dress she wore around him, possibly adding to his pain and reminding him of their time together.

[Chorus]

[Outro]

The song definitely has triggered a fan war, with TikTokers joining #TeamCharli or #TeamHuddy and using his song over their own videos. Until then, fans can keep listening to the new song, trying to make sense of the lyrics until Huddy's All The Things I Hate About You music video arrives on July 29.
