It's official: After close to five months of being on strike, the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) struck a deal allowing unionized screenwriters to head back to work on their respective jobs. While popular TV shows and the makings of movies were on pause, one other sector of media also felt the repercussions of not having writers on board: late night talk shows.

Amid the strike, popular personalities like Seth Meyers paused producing episodes. In the case of Late Night With Seth Meyers, the former Saturday Night Live star supported his team of staff writers and chose to not air new installments in solidarity. Luckily, this will no longer be the case, as the program's social team proudly announced on September 27 that they can expect the comedian to return to NBC on Monday, October 2.

"Breaking News!" read the official notice on the show's account on X (formerly known as Twitter). "Late Night With Seth Meyers will resume with ALL NEW EPISODES starting MONDAY, OCTOBER 2. Huge Thanks to all Late Night fans for your support over the last five months."

While Seth and co. are making their official comeback in the next few days, it leads us to wonder if any other late night talk shows will be making their own grand returns. Luckily, there are some clues about the future of many popular late night talk shows, so you'll want to keep on reading for more details.

When will The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon return?

Just like Seth, his former SNL co-star Jimmy Fallon will be back on the air the same night of October 2. The Tonight Show's social team made a similar announcement as Late Night With Seth Meyers, sharing the news on X with their legion of followers standing behind the reveal.

"The Tonight Show Starring @JimmyFallon is back with all-new episodes starting Monday, October 2 at 11:35/10:35c on @NBC!" read the official notice on September 27.

When will The Late Show With Stephen Colbert return?

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will come back on CBS with new episodes starting October 2. TV personality Stephen Colbert posted a video on Instagram on September 27 to personally share the news, voicing his excitement over the prospect.

"Hey everybody, Stephen Colbert here," he told the camera. "Live in the Ed Sullivan Theater for the first time in five months. We just had our first all-staff meeting and we are ready to go on Monday with an all-new Late Show... I'll see you Monday and every day after that. Peace!"

When will Jimmy Kimmel Live return?

Adding to the roster of late night talk shows coming back on October 2 is Jimmy Kimmel Live. Jimmy Kimmel revealed the news on Instagram, where he posted a behind-the-scenes image alongside his right-hand man Guillermo Rodriguez.

"WE’RE BACK on Monday 10/2 with NEW SHOWS!!! 🎉🕺🙌💃🥂," read the official caption.

When will Last Week Tonight With John Oliver return?

Unlike the other talk shows, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver will go back to new episodes on Sunday, October 1. The series is famous for airing installments on the first day of the week, which it seemingly will continue to do moving forward. What's more, the show went on X to share that fans can now catch them on TV once again.

"Now that the WGA strike is over, we’re so excited to say we’ll be back this Sunday with a new episode!" read the tweet on September 27. "That’s right, after five long months, we’re finally going to let John out of his hole. But we promise, he’s been very happy in there. He's had water and toys and everything."

When will The Daily Show return?

Despite other late night shows returning so soon after the WGA and AMPTP to strike a deal, fans of The Daily Show will need to wait a little while longer.

According to a report from Deadline, the Comedy Central series will be back on the air starting Monday, October 16. Just like earlier episodes this year, the new installments will feature guests hosts for the rest of 2023 until they could find a permanent replacement for former host Trevor Noah. While it's unclear who the show will have to man the various segments, the outlet did report that there will likely be a new face sitting at the table starting sometime in 2024.

When will Real Time With Bill Maher return?

In a surprise twist, Real Time With Bill Maher will be the first late night talk show to make a grand return to TV. New episodes of the show will air on HBO starting Friday, September 29 at 10 p.m. ET, with a number of guests coming to speak to him about what they're working on.

"Hallelujah! @BillMaher is back with a new episode of #RealTime feat. FL Gov. @RonDeSantis, @MakingSenseHQ host Sam Harris and #EndOfDiscussion author @mkhammer FRIDAY @ 10pm on @HBO + @StreamOnMax!" read the announcement on X.
