After the record-breaking success of Yellowjackets season 1, a highly-anticipated second season of the mystery series is hitting Showtime on Friday, March 24. The show has elements of psychological horror and coming-of-age drama as it follows a high school soccer team that survives a plane crash in the middle of nowhere. With flashback sequences shifting between their teen years at the time of the crash and their adult lives, the group attempts to move on from the past that continues to haunt them.
According to Showtime's President of Entertainment, Gary Levine, Yellowjackets is the "second biggest series debut ever on streaming, and it's grown each week on streaming by double-digit percentages." As for the future of the show, he told Deadline that there will be "some surprises in terms of the characters."
"I do know that there will be some surprises in terms of the characters," he said. "There are still lots of questions about who survived, what happened out there. There will be some real surprises in terms of that and I think some characters you may not even have met yet."
