Here's what to expect at the second Light the Night Market

APPLETON - The Light the Night Market presented by Fox Communities Credit Union is returning a second year after its successful debut in May 2023.

The event will take place on three seperate days, May 17, July 19 and a holiday edition on November 16 according to Appleton Downtown, Inc. (ADI). It spans College Avenue between Superior Street and Durkee Street. From 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. locals can attend a free, open market where they can enjoy food, drink, live performances and more.

When the sun sets, the market is engulfed in Edison-string lights hanging over the entire avenue, giving it its name.

Here's what to expect at the first Light the Night Market event of the year.

What entertainment will be featured?

As you walk through the Light the Night Market, live performers can be found showcasing their talents throughout the entire event. This year, roaming performers include Navah Mirage Winged Faries, belly dancers from Appleton, and Dragon and Lion Dancers from the Northeastern Wisconsin Chinese Association.

A Fire and LED show by Cloud Nine can be found on Morrison Street, Aerial Performances by Fly Circus and Aerial Arts will be between Superior Street and Appleton Street, rainbow lights and glow painting demonstrations with Cosmo Joe will be held at Houdini Plaza and much more.

From 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Mischief and Magic will perform a live magic show.

Who will be performing music?

Local musicians and bands will be performing at Houdini Plaza and a few music tents throughout the event.

Taiko drummers from Oshkosh will have a performance from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Music by Avenue 55 can be heard from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

What is there to do at the Light the Night Market?

This year the event will feature several new and returning activities. new activities as well as several returning ones.

New events include a silent disco, inflatable driving range and a 65-foot-long slide. Returning events include a golf simulator, a bubble show, balloon animals, face painting, a kid’s zone with hula hoops, chalk and bubbles.

Fulfill your shopping needs at over 50 vendor booths.

Local vendors including retailers along College Avenue will give attendees the opportunity to shop while strolling through the Light the Night Market. A few vendors will include Cheeky Ceramics, Thrifty-Fox, Gold Coast Candy LLC, Days of Future Crafts, The CNDL Company, Sugar Rushlow Boutique, Beatnik Betty's Resale Butik, Five Penny Piece, and Kush Cafe.

What is there to eat and drink at the Light the Night Market?

Between Superior Street and Durkee Street attendees will find over 20 different food trucks and stops to enjoy a bite to eat and drink while at the market. Several popular restaurants and trucks will be featured at the event including Hot Biddy's, El Tejon Street Corn, Kona Ice, Osario's Latin Fusion, Bowl 91, In Yeero Dreams and Caribbean Taste.

Bars and drink ticket booths will be located on the Southeast side of Appleton Street, along College Avenue and at the corner of Morrison Street and College Avenue.
