This most likely made you say, “Oh my god, that was so Black Mirror,” which then probably reminded you that it’s been a minute since we’ve seen any new episodes of the science fiction anthology. Here’s what we know about the future of the Netflix show that has you convinced your Alexa is working for the government.
Has Netflix confirmed Black Mirror season 6 yet?
The news about season 6 was revealed back in May 2022 as work was getting started on the project. Variety was the first to share the big news with confirmation that the new season would include more episodes than season 5.
Who is taking part in this new season?
If there’s one thing you should absolutely know about Black Mirror, it’s that the cast is always stacked—and season 6 is no exception. In fact, this might be its biggest list of A-listers and TV faves than we’ve ever seen:

On April 25, Netflix teased that some new Black Mirror news would be coming soon via the show’s rarely used Twitter account with a simple message: “What have we missed?”

And then it surprised us with a special teaser trailer that gives a little glimpse of what to expect and also an official release date month: June 2023. Considering how long it has taken between seasons, we don’t mind a little bit of a wait.
When will it be released?
With a brand new trailer, Netflix revealed that Black Mirror season 6 will be out on June 15, 2023. They also confirmed that it will be back with five new episodes!

There might be something like Bandersnatch in the works.
Bandersnatch, the interactive, infinitely long episode of Black Mirror, was totally mind-blowing. It was also such a huge success that the show’s creator, Charlie Brooker, says they’d consider trying something like it again…even though it was a brutal process.
“While we were making it, we kept saying, ‘We’ll never do this again,’” Brooker told the Hollywood Reporter. “By the end, I was saying, ‘Oh, I’ve got an idea.’ It’s definitely something I would do again, and I think there are lots of ways to tackle it.”
Quick request: If they’re going to do another interactive project, can they give us a little longer to make decisions? I was sweating trying to choose a cereal, I can’t lie.
But there could also be a film-like project in the future.
Speaking of Bandersnatch, producer Annabel Jones says it’s changed the way they approach the series…and might influence upcoming projects.
“I think Bandersnatch has proven [Black Mirror] can exist as a single film,” says Jones. “I like that idea, doing one. It’s interesting for us, and hopefully for viewers, to find other ways…other forms of storytelling in which to dramatize things, if they’re earned.”
Okay, so I think we can safely assume that any new Black Mirror projects will be weird as hell? Sounds about right.
