The first spinoff series of The Boys, Gen V, is a teenage college romp for the ages. That is, if you also had to try to get to class with exploding heads, massive government conspiracies, and super-powered freaks (with blood powers!) roaming the halls. The new Prime Video series is full of The Boys's signature violence-and-guts blend that made the superhero parody series so successful. Now that the series has been renewed for Season Two, it's clear that Gen V is doubling down on its brutal and outlandish start.
The story follows Marie Moreau, the aforementioned blood controller, who attends the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting in hopes of using her bizarre powers for good. When Marie arrives to the university, she's immediately confronted by a cadre of equally strange students. There's a girl who can make herself very small by vomiting, a hotheaded king of the school named "Golden Boy," and a shapeshifter. (OK, that superpower is pretty normal, actually.) Lest we forget, there's a murderer who turns people into puppets lurking the halls as well.
Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, revealed in an official statement that Gen V is Prime Video's "most acquisitive new Original series of 2023.” Since studios are in the interest of racking in cash, that means a lot more Gen V in our future. Where Can I Watch Gen V?
The spinoff series will consist of eight episodes on Prime Video, taking place concurrently with The Boys Season Three in the show's timeline. The Boys Season Four officially wrapped filming right before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes this summer, so a mid-2024 release date of the flagship series will likely follow Gen V. After that, Gen V will likely return for even more campus chaos.
