‘Full Circle’ Episode Release GuideHBO

Acclaimed director and indie cinema darling Steven Soderbergh is bringing his talents to television with a new series on Max, with critics saying the streamer is lucky to have him. His new series Full Circle stars Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Timothy Olyphant, Dennis Quaid, Jharrel Jerome and more. The six-part limited series opens on an investigation into a kidnapping near Washington Square Park, but the plot goes well beyond that.

Who is starring in Full Circle?!

Full Circle is one of those projects where an ensemble of seemingly unrelated New Yorkers find themselves intertwined, for better or worse. Let’s break down that ensemble. Claire Danes and Timothy Olyphant play a wealthy couple with a forgetful teenage son with a secret online friend. Dennis Quaid plays Clare Dane’s father, a celebrity chef. That is bracket one for Full Circle.

CCH Pounder, known for her work on The Shield (among many other pieces of work), plays a Guyanese crime boss with a reactive nephew played by Jharrel Jerome from When They See Us and Boots Riley’s newest project, I’m a Virgo.

Finally, we’ve got Zazie Beetz from Atlanta fame who plays a U.S. Postal Inspection Service agent, opposite Jim Gaffigan who plays her boss. All of these characters come together in a story that doesn’t become totally clear until the end of the pilot. So give it a watch, it’s just an hour of your life.

Who made it?!

Soderbergh’s most famous films include Erin Brockovich, Traffic, the Ocean’s trilogy, Contagion, Magic Mike, Side Effects, and more. Full Circle is not his first tango with HBO. In 2018, Soderbergh released Mosaic to the network, a six-episode murder mystery adapted from his experimental interactive app viewing experience—like Black Mirror’s “Bandersnatch” before that was a thing. Full Circle marks Soderbergh’s return to the miniseries form, and to much praise.

What is Full Circle about?

Before you start binging, let’s talk about what we’re getting into here. Full Circle has been described by critics and early viewers as “labyrinthine” and full of twists, so if you like that kind of thing, strap in. If you don’t, then consider skipping this one. The themes of this series are dark and mysterious, with a stellar cast of stars rounding out its sharp edges. With any luck, Full Circle will join HBO’s crown of dark miniseries, right in line behind Sharp Objects, Big Little Lies, The Night Of, Mare of Easttown, and more.

When does the next episode drop?

The new series premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in June of this year, following a month of anticipation after Max released the trailer and promotional poster in May. The first two episodes of Full Circle will be available to stream on Max starting on July 13, with two new episodes released weekly until the finale on July 27.

Here’s the full release schedule for Full Circle:

  • Episode 1: “Something Different” on July 13, 2023
