Here's Every 'Big Brother' Double Eviction Night in the Show's History

"It's a week's worth of Big Brother in one night." That's how that narrator of the CBS reality series has always described the infamous "double eviction" night twist. During the eviction episode, after the first elimination, Julie Chen Moonves informs the players that they are not done competing for that evening. In fact, an entire round is about to play out over the rest of the hour, with an HoH being crowned, nominations made, a Veto won and possibly used. And, at the end of it, another houseguest is sent packing, their mind still reeling by the whiplash.

Here are all the double eviction nights that have happened so far across Big Brother.

Big Brother double evictions

Season 7

The double eviction as we know it today first appeared in 2006's "All-Stars" season of Big Brother under a different name. Branded the "Big Brother Fast Forward," the episode started with the eviction of Danielle Reyes at the hands of her closest ally Erika Landin. Julie then shocked the returnees with an announcement that they would then play out an entire other round in the next hour. Erika was very close to walking out the door right after her bestie, but a clutch veto win sealed the fate of season 1 houseguest "Chicken" George Allen Boswell.

Season 8

The double eviction twist proved to not just be for returning players when it returned the next season in 2007 with an all-new cast. The episode started with the eviction of Jessica Hughbanks, who had been betrayed by her new alliance with father/daughter duo Dick Donato and Daniele Donato. And following her at the end of the hour was her showmance partner Eric Stein, who had competed the entire season as the role of "America's Player," doing things in the house by the whim of popular vote.

Season 10

After a season off, the double eviction returned for season 10 in 2008. The twist was bumped up a round from its previous two iterations, running from the Final 7 into the Final 6. This one began with the eviction of Michelle Costa, after Dan Gheesling had broken his promise to Bryan Ollie and nominated his closest ally. And it was a mere matter of minutes before Ollie was sent packing as well, walking out without a word to say to the remaining houseguests.

Season 12

By Day 55 on Big Brother 12, Brendon Villegas was fighting an incredibly uphill battle. His showmance partner had been evicted weeks ago in Rachel Reilly, causing him to have to win competitions to stay alive. He thought he was golden, having won the veto and forcing the powerful "Brigade" alliance to evict one of their own in Matt Hoffman. But, unfortunately for Brendon, he would not escape Day 26. The double eviction was announced, he lost both crucial competitions, and was quickly sent packing.

Season 13

2011's Big Brother 13 sports perhaps the most eventful double eviction in the show's history. At the beginning of the hour, Daniele Donato was evicted at the hands of Jeff Schroeder, after she had turned on her fellow returnees in the last few weeks. But Daniele saw some revenge via her two remaining allies. Kalia Booker won HoH, putting Jeff up alongside a returning Rachel. And in an intense Veto competition that has brought a new meaning to clown shoes for Big Brother fans, Jeff lost. The final nail in the coffin, though, was Shelly Moore. The newbie decided to turn on her returnee allies, forcing a tie and causing Jeff to go from HoH to evictee in less than an hour.

Season 14

Big Brother 14 was the first in the show's history to have not one, but two double evictions. The first came on Day 48, which began with the elimination of returnee Mike "Boogie" Malin. The season 7 winner had turned from coach to player a few weeks ago, and was turned on by his fellow team member Ian Terry. Later that night, Ian would go on to win HoH and continue the betrayals, nominating Frank Eudy alongside pawn Ashley Iocco. But when Frank won yet another veto, Ashley turned from pawn to target, becoming the season's first jury member.

It was only a matter of time before Frank stopped winning out, and that came two weeks later on Day 62. For the first time since Week 4, he had not won safety via HoH and veto. So the house made the easy choice and evicted him. But they were not done yet, as they were shocked with the announcement of another double eviction. Returnee Dan won HoH and tried to use the opportunity to go after Ian. But it was Ian's turn to win a crucial veto, saving himself. As a result, pawn Joe Arvin became a target this time, going out in the end.

Season 15

Big Brother 15 in 2013 was the first to start with its now-traditional 16 houseguests, meaning the two double eviction structure from last season had to become a necessity. And both of them contain some huge moments. The first came on Day 49, as the jury began with Candice Stewart's eviction, as she exchanged heated words with Gina Marie Zimmerman on the way out. When Aaryn Gries won the next HoH, she took aim at Jessie Kowalski. But as the hour played out, it became known that Judd Daugherty was playing all sides, and couldn't be trusted. Shockingly, one of the most well-positioned players in the house suddenly became the target, and he got put up and out.

Luckily for Judd, he soon returned to the house, and participated in the season's second double eviction on Day 77. The night started with Andy Herren turning on his alliance with showmance Amanda Zuckerman and McCrae Olson, joining his new "Exterminators" group to evict the former. And, in the most impressive move from the eventual winner in the season, when McCrae won HoH, he was able to convince him that it wasn't him who turned, but Elissa Slater. McCrae bought the lie, and took aim at the fan favorite, keeping Andy's loyalties under wraps.

Season 16

The first season 16 double eviction came on Day 49. At the beginning of the week, it seemed like the majority "Detonators" alliance was ready to turn on one of their own and evict Zach Rance. But a last-minute plan from eventual winner Derrick Levasseur kept him in the game, as he instructed his alliance to instead evict Jocasta Odom. A select few in the house were left blindsided, including Hayden Voss. He very quickly found himself on the outs, which was confirmed when he was evicted by the end of the hour.

Hayden's showmance partner Nicole Franzel was evicted the next week, only to be granted a reprieve in returning to the house. Unfortunately, her second stay was a short one, and came at the beginning of the second double eviction. After she was voted out unanimously, all that remained with the Detonators and Victoria Rafaeli. Despite being nominated by HoH Derrick, Christine Brecht was confident she was sailing through to the Final 5. Unfortunately, her alliance decided to turn on her, blindsiding her. And, to add insult to injury, she walked out to boos from the live studio audience.

Season 17

Day 57 of Big Brother 17 seemed like the end for Vanessa Rousso. The mastermind had been backdoored, and all hope seemed lost. But she was able to appeal to the swing votes in the house, able to convince them that she would get revenge on the HoH who nominated her rather than them should she survive. As a result, Vanessa shockingly stayed, with Shelli Poole going unanimously. One of those votes to flip was Jackie Ibarra. And perhaps it was a move she questioned by the end of the hour, as she was sent out the door right after Shelli at the hands of eventual winner Steve Moses.

Steve found himself in another crucial position during the season's second double eviction on Day 78. Caught between two alliances, he and John MacGuire chose to keep Julia Nolan safe, evicting Jackie's ally Meg Maley. Julia and her twin sister Liz repaid them in kind when the latter immediately won HoH. Despite nominating John, their target was the last remaining member of the opposition in James Huling. And when the prankster lost the veto, the last laugh was on him.

Season 18

Season 18 in 2016 reverted back to only one double eviction. The first vote was a big one, as up to that point, veteran Nicole Franzel had accumulated a strong majority alongside her showmance partner Corey Brooks and Paulie Calafiore (brother of her season 16 castmate Cody). This week saw one of the first flips in the game, as the various factions in the rest of the house decided to come together and blindside Corey's showmance partner Zakiyah Everette. Nicole's side was left in shambles, but quickly recovered when Corey won HoH. Sitting on the block for the second time in a row, Michelle Meyer thought she was a goner, and used her eviction speech to call out people. But it was her turn to be shocked, as her blockmate Bridgette Dunning was the one who went.

Over the Top

2016 also saw the debut of Big Brother: Over the Top, an experimental season hosted entirely on what was then known as CBS All Access. "OTT" saw an intense rivalry between two sides of the house, and this week was up and down for the "Ballsmashers" alliance. Alex Willett was put up as a third nominee by audience vote, and was unanimously voted out later that week. But the remaining members in Morgan Willett and Shelby Stockton were granted a reprieve when Morgan earned a special "Double Eviction Veto" that kept both of them safe. The "Late Night Jamboree" had to turn on one of their own, and unfortunately for Whitney Hogg, it was last in, first out for the recent flipper.

Season 19

Big Brother 19 in 2017 returned to the two double eviction format. The first came on Day 58. Cody Nickson was the definitive underdog of the season, being evicted once before, returning, losing his showmance partner, and enduring verbal harassment. But it all came to a close when he was backdoored right as the jury phase began. Cody had one of the more memorable exits in the show's history. When everyone put their feet up to prevent him from walking straight out the door, he instead chose to walk over the table, not speaking a word. Joining him soon after was Elena Davies, who had earned the ire of the alliance with her actions in the "Yankee Swap" veto days before.

The second double eviction came on Day 79. The duo of Alex Ow and Jason Dent felt comfortable in the majority. When Jason faced eviction next to Kevin Schlehuber, they thought the stay-at-home dad would end his stay in the house. But alliance leader Paul Abrahamian thought differently, deciding to break up the powerful pair in evicting Jason. Alex got some revenge by immediately winning HoH. And by the end of the hour, Raven Walton was doing cartwheels out the door following the rodeo clown.

Season 20

Season 20's sole double eviction came all the way on Day 86. It started relatively rote, with the "Level 6" alliance taking out the last member of the opposing "FOUTTE" in Haleigh Broucher. But a big move was in store when Tyler Crispen won HoH and Angela Rummans won veto. After hearing rumblings of Brett Robinson wanting to bring the numbers together against the duo, they quashed the rebellion before it started. They set up a one-two punch to get Brett up on the block, where he was sent out before putting any plans into action.

Season 21

By Day 79 in Big Brother 21, everyone was after the pair of Tommy Bracco and Christie Murphy. Earlier that week, Tommy had kept him and Christie safe, leading to the eviction of Jessica Milagros. But their time together had run short. Nicole Anthony won HoH, with even Julie cheering a victory for the fan favorite. Christie and Tommy were nominated, and when Nicole's ally Cliff Hogg won veto, despite Christie dodging elimination the entire season, it sealed her fate.

Season 22

Much like the first "All-Stars" season reinvented the eviction concept with the double, the second one in 2020 continued to ramp it up. Day 58 of Big Brother 22 saw, for the first time in the show's history, a triple eviction. Over the course of two hours, an additional two rounds of competitions and voting played out. Fans were hopeful this new twist would mean the majority "Committee" alliance could finally be shaken up. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Outsiders Kevin Campbell and David Alexander were the first two boots. And, when it pretty much came down to the Committee, Dani Briones was the third sent out, deemed too dangerous by her allies.

Season 23

Big Brother 23 continued to reinvent the concept of the double eviction. For the first time, the houseguest experienced two double evictions in back-to-back weeks. On Day 65, the "Cookout" alliance was able to accomplish its master plan, getting rid of Claire Rehfuss and Alyssa Lopez to guarantee the first Black winner of a civilian Big Brother U.S. season. With the Cookout now forced to turn on each other, they were shocked to find another double eviction waiting for them the next week. Alliance mastermind Tiffany Mitchell was evicted first. And when Kyland Young chose to remove Xavier Prather from the block, it sealed the fate of Hannah Chaddha.

Season 24

Though not technically a double eviction, the "split house" twist in Week 7 of Big Brother 24 did result in two people getting voted out in Jasmine Turner and Joseph Abdin. But by the time the real double eviction had come around on Day 25, Michael Bruner had proven himself the most dangerous person in the house. He had won an astounding nine competitions over the season, tying the all-time record. So, while Terrance Higgins went home under him that night, Michael would soon follow his nominee out the door. Everyone, including his closest allies, felt he was too threatening to let continue. Michael had yet another memorable exit from the house, simply stating, "I have one thing to say" before charging out the door headfirst.

Season 25

We have yet to see what Big Brother 25's double eviction will provide. We know there's a near-certain chance that Cameron Hardin will be the first evicted, after a week-long plot with the rest of the house to get him on the block. After him, the mother/son duo of Jared Fields and Cirie Fields look to be in the most trouble. However, it has been hinted that there may be "Scaryverse" twist affiliated with the double eviction, meaning this will be far from ordinary.
