Here's How to Clean Your Beauty Blender

From Seventeen

Our lives completely changed when we met the Beauty Blender and the rest of the internet is equally obsessed (even Kylie Jenner loves it!). We've seen the gorgeous makeup looks a BeautyBlender can help you get, but we've also seen what can happen to a dirty makeup sponge, and it's really gross.

Even though those disgusting Blender pics are enough to make you never want to touch a sponge again, no one (read: me) seems to know how you're actually supposed to clean that germy sponge you've been mopping your pores with. Thankfully, YouTuber NikkieTutorials made a video to help.

Some Blenders come with a little bar of soap and since it's only an extra $5 to buy the combo pack, it's totally worth it. All you have to do is wet the sponge and rub it on the bar until your makeup is gone. If you already have a Blender and you didn't think to get the combo cleanser pack, don't throw it out yet (unless you've had it for more than three months, then definitely throw it out). Nikkie says a regular bar of soap will work just fine.

If scrubbing for two minutes sounds a little bit too hands-on for you, you can also use Kandee Johnson's method. Add a tablespoon of the liquid BlenderCleanser to one cup of water, then saturate the sponge and leave it to soak in the mixture overnight.

The next morning, squeeze it out, pat it with a towel, and set it on the little box it came in to dry.

If you don't want to drop $18 on a special cleanser, Breezy 'n' Fab says you can use a teaspoon of Dawn dish soap and two teaspoons of olive oil mixed with about a 3/4 cup of water to do the same process.

Check out Kandee's review and tutorial here. She starts the cleaning process at 6:15.
