Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera is sending good vibes to Britney Spears amid her upcoming book release—though it's not clear if the "Beautiful" songstress will be picking up her own copy.

Aguilera, 42, was recently asked about Spears' highly-anticipated memoir, The Woman in Me, while making an appearance on Monday night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she admitted to having limited knowledge about the new book.

When asked if Spears, 41, had reached out to give her a "heads up" about a possible mention in her pages, Aguilera told Kimmel, "Dude, I don't know. I don't know," while letting out a laugh.

"I'm hoping that everything is all good with her and everything's beautiful," the Grammy-winner stated, adding, "The future should be celebrated."

But Kimmel wasn't giving up on his question, as he then asked Aguilera, "If you had to choose between being in it and not being in it?" which she first attempted to laugh off.

"For real? For real?" she asked, while Kimmel chimed in to say, "I would like to be in it."

"Maybe you will be in it," she joked to the late-night host while quipping, "Listen, I'd rather it be you than me."

Aguilera and Spears—who first met as child stars on The Mickey Mouse Club—have had a complicated relationship over the years, often being pitted against each other in a pop-star rivalry during the late '90s and early 2000s.

But the "Genie in a Bottle" singer did speak out in support of Spears while she was fighting to end her 13-year conservatorship under father Jamie Spears, with Aguilera writing in part on social media, "My heart goes out to Britney."

"She deserves all the TRUE love and support in the world," she added at the time.

But tensions seemed to rise again following the termination of Spears' conservatorship when Aguilera refused to go into detail about the situation during a November 2021 red carpet interview.

"I can't [get into it], but I'm happy for her," Aguilera could be heard in the video, which ended up going viral, much to Spears' dismay.

"I love and adore everyone who supported me ... But refusing to speak when you know the truth, is equivalent to a lie!!!!!" Spears later wrote in an Instagram Story, per Entertainment Tonight, adding, "13 years being in a corrupt abusive system yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about???"

Nearly a year later, the "Circus" singer got herself into hot water when she appeared to body shame Aguilera and her former backup dancers in an Instagram post that included the quote, "I found there was only one way to look thin: Hang out with fat people."

“I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children … my dancers … I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small… I mean why not talk about it ??" Spears wrote at the time, prompting Aguilera to allegedly hit the unfollow button.

Spears' fans were quick to call out the "fatphobic" post, and the pop star later clarified that she wasn't attempting to be "critical" of Aguilera's body, per BuzzFeed News.
