If you somehow enjoy not being able to sleep at night, you've come to the right place. When it comes to horror, we get it; The kid sees dead people, a priest waterboards a possessed girl to get rid of a demon, Ghostface likes to make anonymous phone calls when you're home alone, and a hot serial killer is on the loose (hi, Christian Bale!). The possibilities are endless when it comes to scary movies. Sometimes it takes a disturbing franchise to really allow us to let go and enjoy a good scare, and there are few more successful examples of this than the Saw movie franchise.
It has been almost 20 years since the first Saw movie debuted, and it's been a long road of blood, twists, and "games." Recently, Saw X hit the theaters, despite John Kramer "dying" over the past two decades. In this new Saw movie, he travels to Mexico on the hunt for a cure for his brain cancer and undergoes a risky procedure, only to discover everyone who "helped" him is a fraud. It's a bad thing to scam anyone, but to scam a serial killer? Bless their hearts.
Before you buy Saw X tickets, check out the previous movies so you can see Jigsaw's horrible history. There is an intense build-up to this film, and it's important for you to dive into his story.

Saw (2004)
In the first Saw movie, a doctor and a creepy photographer find themselves chained to pipes in a broken-down bathroom. They have no recollection of how they got there and realize they have to take part in a "game" by the wanted serial killer Jigsaw to escape. As the situation escalates, the sins of the doctor come to light and he realizes he must risk his life and fight for his family (even if he has to lose a few limbs).
Saw II (2005)
Saw II follows the hunt for serial killer Jigsaw, who has trapped eight people in an abandoned house in a hidden location. Detective Eric Matthews, who is desperate to find his son, becomes the biggest piece in Jigsaw's game.
Saw III (2006)
Get ready for more gore. In Saw III, Dr. Lynn Denlon is the focus of Jigsaw's game. Her task is to keep Jigsaw alive in an abandoned warehouse until another kidnapped victim completes his own gory puzzle. And of course the killer has bigger plans in store.
Saw IV (2007)
After the apparent death of John Kramer (aka Jigsaw), a cassette tape is discovered in his stomach and those who find it come to realize that even though he is gone, his games will still continue from beyond the grave. Could Jigsaw have an accomplice on his side? It certainly seems so....
Saw V (2008)
In Saw V, Jigsaw's gory games continue. People are on the hunt to find out the identity of his accomplice, since John Kramer is dead. Along the way, agent Peter Strahm becomes highly suspicious of fellow lawman, Lieutenant Mark Hoffman, and his intentions.
Saw VI (2009)
Saw VI follows the story of Lieutenant Mark Hoffman, who—SPOILER FOR SAW V—carries out Jigsaw's twisted games. As people grow to find him more suspicious, he sets out to conduct the biggest game yet.
Saw: The Final Chapter (2010)
The seventh movie of the Saw franchise, Lieutenant Mark Hoffman sets out for revenge agains Jigsaw's wife, while a survivor of a past game is once again targeted and must undergo a twisted game against Jigsaw from beyond the grave. This film seems to be a "final chapter" of sorts, but it's clear there is much more of John Kramer's story to be told.
Jigsaw (2017)
Seven years after the last Saw movie, fans were given Jigsaw. In this film, a series of murders take place, leaving people questioning if John Kramer is really dead after being gone for over a decade.
Spiral (2021)
It's time for more games. Spiral: From the Book of Saw is set with a whole new league of characters. This time, Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks and his rookie partner are on the hunt for a killer who starts taking down members of their squad.
Saw X (2023)
In the newest Saw film, John Kramer travels to Mexico to undergo a risky procedure to become cancer free. After his operation, he discovers it was a total fraud and decides to take revenge on those who cheated him. Twist after twist, the fakers take part in a game (of course).
