There are so many variables in these uncertain times, but thankfully for us all, Baby Yoda is a constant. Now that we’re back in the Star Wars groove with The Mandalorian season 2 making its way to Disney+ today, here’s everything we know about The Mandalorian season 3 and this whole continuing saga. I know that season 2 just started, but it’s important to be forward-thinking. Again, if there’s anything we need in these dark times, it’s the guarantee that we will get more Baby Yoda content in the future.

Season 3 is definitely happening, btw.

Heck yes. Variety announced all the way back in April that Mandalorian is renewed for season 3. In a later interview with Variety, the showrunner Jon Favreau said season 3 was “on track” to start filming before the end of the year. It’s pretty hard to know whether that is still the case. Although many movies and TV shows have gone into production recently, with COVID-19 cases going up in many places around the country, it feels more like a maybe that a production as big as this one would be able to start again. TBD!

What would it be about?

Listen, I barely even know what The Mandalorian season 2 is about, besides Baby Yoda. I promise I’m not playing dumb. While there are enough rumors about the Star Wars series floating around the ’verse to power a Death Star, very little information is actually confirmed. They are tight-lipped over there.

Plus, season 2 is being released week by week instead of all at once. So it’s going to be almost Christmas by the time we even know how this season ends. By then, we’ll probably have a better idea of what season 3 will be about because of a cliff-hanger or something.

Will The Mandalorian eventually meet up with the events in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? It takes place about five years after Return of the Jedi and therefore about 14ish years before Rey and Finn embark on their big adventure. All the characters from the new movies are out there, it’s just that some of them are children. So the possibility of an eventual crossover is something to think about.

Who will return for the next season?

Again, besides Pedro Pascal and the bb himself, it’s hard to know who will be in the cast. Even Santa Clarita Diet star Timothy Olyphant’s involvement in The Mandalorian was a rumor until he showed up (looking *fine* as hell, I might add) in the season 2 premiere. Most of the guest star and cameo appearances on The Mandalorian are total surprises, which isn’t that fun to read about but does make for a fun viewing experience whenever season 3 finally gets here. Speaking of…

When will we see season 3?

Personally, I would guess that The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere before the end of 2021—but don’t hold me to that. That’s just my educated opinion given that season 2 started filming in November of last year and we’re seeing it now. If they get a later start this time around, it might be a Christmas or New Year’s Eve release instead of a Halloween release. Still, fingers crossed we won’t go a year without more of Baby Yoda and his Mando-dad’s adventures.

What to do until then…

(Besides watch The Mandalorian season 2 every Friday on Disney+, that is.) One major difference between this year and last year is that the merch is READY to go. There are so many Mandalorian products out there for your fangirling and holiday shopping needs. There’s even Baby Yoda makeup, because of course there is.
