Hello, Lizzo’s Performance Is the Only Part of the VMAs You Need to Watch

Don’t know if you’ve been on the internet lately, but Lizzo is pretty much the only good thing out there. She and her flute have saved the entire Twitter platform, TBH.

She just performed at the VMAs, and she was hands down the best part of the show so far. Like, it was legit unreal. There was an inflatable butt! Her backup dancers wore Afro wigs and then ripped ’em off! Lizzo took off a trench to reveal an iconic yellow bodysuit! She performed “Truth Hurts” and “Good as Hell,” and the entire thing was incredible. Seriously, if you watch one thing from this awards ceremony, let it be her performance.

I mean...there’s so much to talk about here, but Twitter has it covered. I’ll let them take it away.

Plus, judging by the reactions of fellow celebs and musicians in the audience (like Missy Elliott, who is literally being crowned an icon by MTV at tonight’s VMAs), it’s safe to say that being there live was pure thrills. I’m pretty sure I even saw Bella Hadid smiling, which, getting Bella to smile in her seat is an accomplishment worthy of its own award. Even more fun? Seeing Lizzo’s fans singing along to every word and fully raising several roofs with their whole bodies.

She’s nominated for a lot of awards tonight, BTW. She’s up for Best New Artist, Push Artist of the Year (welp, Billie Eilish technically won that one), Best Power Anthem, and Song of Summer. The night is young, so she def has a chance to take home some moon men.
