Say Hello To a Classic Charleston Wedding That'll Knock Your Socks Off

You know when people say it's a small world? Well, it really is. Upon first look of this fete from Shannon Moffit, the Bride looked strikingly familiar to me. You see, on my very own honeymoon four years ago, my husband and I met a couple staying at our hotel. We ended up spending a bit of time with them and afterward I stayed connected with Michelle on social media. This beautiful Bride is her twin sister. And oh, is she a stunning Bride! Their Charleston affair will surely dazzle you with its classic details. See it all unfold below.

From Shannon Moffit Photography… Colleen and Justin met on the back patio of Old Glory Bar-B-Que, a now-shuttered restaurant in Georgetown, Washington D.C., that was once a hot-spot for the early-20s crowd. The pair had a steadfast long distance relationship for many years until finally getting the opportunity to settle down and tie the knot.Colleen and Justin are quite an adventurous and joyful couple. They love to travel, laugh, and spend time with family–so it was only fitting that they host their destination wedding in one of their favorite cities, historic Charleston, South Carolina. Colleen and Justin’s wedding reflected the character and vibe the city has to offer–warm, welcoming, and sophisticated.

Colleen wore a custom Elizabeth Fillmore wedding gown two different ways; she was able to remove a skirt layer and the cap sleeves for a sleeker nighttime look. She also wore embellished Dolce & Gabbana heels and carried an understated bouquet of white hellebores. The groom also changed his look from his military uniform to a white tuxedo, just in time for their rooftop cocktail hour. The couple chose to have their reception at The Dewberry, an old federal building repurposed as a luxury boutique hotel. The space echoes Charleston’s historic charm and architectural grace with a quaint walled garden and intimate ballroom–complete with herringbone floors and a breathtaking brass and crystal palmetto chandelier.

Some other details include: a letterpress invitation with custom pineapple embossing and envelope liner, suede lunchbox gift bags with engraved whiskey stones and Yeti koozies for groomsmen, and rattan chargers, modern gold table numbers, and white poppies, tulips, and cotton on the family-style tables at the reception. To further prove how adventurous and fun this couple is…they spent their honeymoon skiing and relaxing in The Dolomites (Corvara and Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Italian Alps) and Kitzbuhel, Austria.
