Hellessy RTW Fall 2021
In lieu of a fashion presentation, Hellessy designer Sylvie Millstein partnered with charity God’s Love We Deliver for the fall season. Millstein’s God’s Love We Deliver x Hellessy partnership was threefold. Between March 18 and 19. the designer and several friends of the brand volunteered at the New York charity, preparing food in the kitchen while donning the exclusive logo’d T-shirts and hoodie that Millstein had designed for the partnership and which will be available for sale on the brand’s e-commerce and on Moda Operandi Friday (a portion of proceeds will be donated to the charity). Additionally, the GLWD team offered Millstein its facilities to shoot her fall collection look book, which displayed a few of the volunteers (Veronica Webb, Michele Hicks and Amalie Gassman) donning both the collaborative “merch” and new fall ready to wear fashions.
The look: A more relaxed take of Hellessy signatures — a focus on draping, knits and fluid occasionwear, all twisted with playful decoration.

Quote of note: “I still think it’s going to be a soft return to dressing up and glamour; I think there’s still going to be a bit of restraint in the way women are dressing and I think comfort is going to be on her mind,” Millstein spoke of the fall season ahead.
Key pieces: Luxe and artisanal knits (a category Millstein noted she “can’t keep in stock”), like a one-shoulder angora sweater in ginger or angora, wool and cashmere intarsia striped number; a champagne topcoat with cascading draped panel; drapey blouses and fluid evening offerings (the best gown came one-shouldered in gold silk lamé), which balanced evening with a cozy, effortless sensibility.
The takeaway: The main message of the Hellessy fall collection was the importance of giving back; in rtw, Millstein’s signature knack for twisting wardrobe staples into playful fashion items stood out once again.
