And last week, The Evening Standard reported that Bonham Carter's casting as Princess Margaret is "all but confirmed."

But fear not, as we may have finally found the evidence we've been hoping for. Vanessa Kirby appears to have confirmed the rumors after sharing a snap posing with Bonham Carter on Instagram, alongside the caption: "Honoured."

And it will prove a fitting role for the 51-year-old, as she has some pretty impressive royal connections. Bonham Carter's Oxfordshire home, Mill House, was previously owned by the Princess Margaret's former lady-in-waiting, Jane Stevens. And let's not forget, the actress took on the role of the Queen Mother in 2010 film, The King's Speech.

There's still no news on who is set to play Prince Philip in the upcoming series, but Olivia Colman is confirmed to take over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from Claire Foy.
