Helen Mirren Secretly Took a Photo of Jason Momoa
You might think it would be impossible for Dame Helen Mirren to get any more likeable, but she seems determined to hold on to the title of most relatable celebrity with the revelation that she once saw Aquaman star Jason Momoa on a plane—and secretly photographed him.
“I was with my husband [Taylor Hackford], but my heart just went, ‘Oh, my God, that is just the most beautiful man I have ever seen in my life,’” Mirren confessed during an appearance on CBS’s The Talk on Monday. To be fair, Oscar-winning director Hackford is no slouch, but can you really blame Mirren for being starstruck by the Aquaman actor? Look at him.
Mirren noted that Momoa was with his wife, actress Lisa Bonet, when she saw him on a plane, but even that didn’t cool her ardor; as she tells it, she couldn’t help herself and “secretly took a photo of him.”
Someone apparently noted potential chemistry between the Catherine the Great star and Momoa earlier this year, when the two were brought together—both in pink, no less—to present the award for best documentary feature at the 2019 Oscars. Twitter lost its mind over the pairing, especially when Mirren posted a selfie with the actor and included the somewhat aflutter caption, “Backstage oh Lord lucky me.”
Even at the time Mirren referred to Momoa as a “Hawaiian god,” proving incontrovertibly that she’s been aware of his charms for at least a year. Dame Mirren, we see you, and we salute you.
