Cast your minds back to the 2012 Academy Awards, specifically the Oscars red carpet when Angelina Jolie arrived in a now-iconic Versace black velvet gown featuring a thigh-high leg slit. Yep, we're talking about that dress. Or more specifically, its infamous leg slit that – thanks to Ange's posing – sparked many an internet meme and inspired more than a few Halloween costumes (the ultimate marker of pop culture significance IMO).

While Angelina's 'fit may be considered one of the most memorable dresses in fashion history (seriously, it has its own Wikipedia page!!), celebrity looks have become far more daring in the years since, and this season you can't move for the number of naked dresses worn by everyone from Florence Pugh to Emily Ratajkowski.

So, forget controversial thigh-high leg slits, Heidi Klum just raised the bar with a *hip* high leg slit. Oh, and the biggest torso cut-out we've seen.

Yep, attending the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute couture Autumn/Winter 23/24 show during Paris Fashion Week, Heidi arrived wearing JPG, natch. Specifically, vintage JPG in a blue and black gown from the designer's 2017 collection.

While one half of the look was a black floor-length dress with padded shoulders, the other couldn't be further from it. We can only describe it as half dress, half bikini with the black fabric attached to a blue bandeau top and the same blue fabric tied in a knot with a trailing mini train at Heidi's hip. The result is a cut-out spanning the supermodel's entire torso and a leg slit that practically reaches her waist.

Heidi paired her swimwear-esque 'fit with black strappy sandals and a sapphire gemstone necklace.

She took to Instagram to share details about her look for the show, posting a video of herself lying on her hotel room bed in the dress. Tagging the designer in the caption, she wrote "@jeanpaulgaultier said to me „this dress you are wearing i sewed with my own hands „"

"JPG I love you ❤️ always being a visionary of love and diversity in beauty. Beautiful you made me feel tonight ….. now I listen to the street sounds of Paris … inspired by the magical @juliendossena x @jeanpaulgaultier Haute Couture show today 🇫🇷❤️
CONGRATULATIONS"

"JPG 2017 Vintage 💙🖤"

From see-through tops to exposed thongs, and not forgetting the naked picture she shared on Instagram yesterday, we can always rely on Heidi for an unexpected style statement.
