From Cosmopolitan

I’ve been spending a lottt of my time being super productive watching The Masked Singer season 3. Never in a million years did I think that, acting on my own free will, I’d be staring at celebrities dressed in over-the-top outfits, singing and dancing on national TV. The quality of entertainment these days is unreal, lemme tell ya.

One of my fave parts of the show is the wildly detailed, intricate, and extravagant costumes. I’d even go so far as to call them works of art. I mean, come on! It’s pretty impressive that these stars B-listers are able to bust a move onstage in getups that rival heavy machinery. Have you *seen* the wings on the Night Angel?! Or the hat on the Frog?! None of this stuff can be particularly comfy, and the sacrifice made for my personal amusement is very much appreciated!

Enter: the T-Rex. Bless the poor soul who agreed to wear those teeny lil arms and huge, scaly head. Maybe I was too distracted by the costume or maybe I just suck at recognizing voices, but I, for one, cannot figure out who is lurking inside that sweaty prehistoric reptile ’fit. So let’s investigate the most popular fan theories, shall we?

Psst! Doesn’t this guy remind you of the T-Rex in Toy Story? Ah, miss u, childhood.

The Clues

TBH, this is one of the most complicated clue packages I’ve ever seen. We learn that the T-Rex was “plucked out of obscurity” and there was a cataclysmic event that changed their world forever (which is such a classic famous-person line, I might add). The video also features the letters “N” and “W,” a baby doll, and a blown-up “U” balloon. I’m completely lost, but see for yourself:

Lucky for us amateur detectives, there’s also a second clue package. In it, the T-Rex reveals that after the previously mentioned ~cataclysmic event~, there were only singles and doubles left on the T-Rex Island so they had to “diversify” to survive. (Me rn: Qué???) Other key words mentioned by Mademoiselle Rex are “bumblebee” and “double dare.” Take a look cuz I still got nothing:

The Performances

The T-Rex flexed on all of us with two killer performances. You could feel the energy and hype with all their kicks and dance moves. They rocked Pink’s fiery anthem “So What” and brought the audience and judges to their feet. Check it out:

I didn’t think it could get more lively than their first song, but I was wrong. The T-Rex’s second performance to “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa was energetic, to say the least. Clearly, the celebrity hiding under the mask is a dancer because they brought the moves and pumped up the house.

The Theory

JoJo Siwa

Yep, I’m addressing only one theory here because fans are absolutely positive that underneath the T-Rex costume is Dance Moms star and YouTube personality JoJo Siwa. Apparently, I’m the only person (besides the judges) who didn’t recognize her voice and body mannerisms—within the Masked Singer community, it’s basically a fact that JoJo is the T-Rex.

Some fans saw the T-Rex’s dance style and knew right away it was JoJo. The clues do match up: JoJo started out young (see: the baby doll clue), JoJo was a part of Dance Moms (which is like the “sisterhood” the T-Rex mentions), the single and double pirouette hints are all dance-related, and the “U” balloon represents JoJo’s YouTube channel. Twitter is already roasting the judges for not realizing it’s JoJo.

BRB, now I **have** to go rewatch Dance Moms.
