Heavenly Resort Plans To Reopen Essential Gondola Tomorrow

What's better than a storm update? (Okay, kidding, nothing's better than fresh pow.) But what's a very, very close second? A gondola update!

Heavenly has been dealing with technical difficulties regarding their gondola, which is key to getting up the mountain. Luckily, the gondola will be back soon, as announced in a social media post from officials at Heavenly this morning.

"Thanks to our incredible Lift Maintenance team, the new bearings are installed, the machine has been reassembled, and the Gondola is ready for testing!"

The resort promised at no point in time was the Gondola unsafe for riding, and continuing in safe fashion, the testing will occur before people ride up it.

Specifically, the Gondola will be spinning without riders. The resort announced that "it will need to operate for testing before we are able to load guests, so you’ll see it spinning throughout the day today."

"As long as all tests go well, we plan to re-open it tomorrow, January 12!"

Tahoe has had a rough go the past couple of days, with difficult driving conditions, the in-bounds avalanche at Palisades Tahoe, and storms affecting residents across the lake. But the Gondola being open for business again is something we can all get behind, and provides the positive news we all need right now!

"Thank you all again for the support and patience as we cross the finish line with the repairs. We are super excited to get the Gondola back online again!"

We're excited, too. Thank you, Heavenly!
