Heatless Curls: How to style your hair without heat or damage

LISA AZCONA: This looks ridiculous. It honestly it looks like there's tentacles coming out of my head. Will this even really curl my hair? I can't wait to find out.

What's up, guys. It's Lisa. And this is In The Know's Pretty Beautiful. Today, I will be trying to achieve beautiful heatless curls using the Octo Curl. I discovered this product on TikTok and I'm so glad I did, because I'm always looking for new ways to create less damage on my hair when I'm styling it. It claims to work for all hair types, and hair lengths, and just be a healthier, more gentle alternative to a curling wand since no actual heat is involved.

OK, so the Octo Curl comes in different styles, fabrics, and colors. I chose the one made out of cotton poplin for long hair. In my case, I'm looking for a more polished look. So my hair has already been straightened and it's completely dry, but it claims to work just as well on wet hair.

So to use it, slip it over your head like you would a headband and twist your hair around the strips. The Octo Curl comes with eight sets of double strips. And, as you can see, I'm wrapping my hair around two strips at a time since I want to create looser curls. If I were to wrap my hair around each individual strip, the resulting curls would definitely be much tighter. Make sure to use the elastic loops at the ends to secure your hair in place. The kind of curl you get really depends on how you decide to wrap your hair. So just know that you have a lot of flexibility here. To finish off, I'm going to add a bit of texturizing hairspray. I'll be sleeping in the Octo Curl overnight since my hair is completely dry, just to give my hair enough time to curl.

Hey, guys, I'm back. It's the next day. So let's take a look at my hair for a second. My hair remains pretty nicely wrapped. I'm honestly surprised it didn't fall apart in my sleep. It definitely wasn't the most comfortable thing to sleep in. I'm going to go ahead and start unwrapping my hair. My hair feels like it's a bit tangled in the Octo Curl, so I'm struggling a bit to undo them since I don't want to ruin the curls.

OK, the curls look way better than I expected. The top is a little frizzy, but it's nothing that a comb can't fix. I'm impressed. I honestly feel like I want to change into the grain top I had yesterday because I feel like you can see what I'm talking about. I'll be right back.
