Heartbreaking Video Highlights the Reality of Shelter Dogs Who Get Overlooked

There are so many special pups waiting for homes.

Overcrowding is one of the biggest problems animal shelters around the world are facing. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, ASPCA, estimates about 7.6 million unwanted pets enter U.S. animal shelters every year with nearly 3 million of them getting put down.

The sad truth behind those numbers is that there are certain shelter dogs that get overlooked more than others. TikTok user @agmoore4 recently posted a clip that serves as a reminder to not forget about these precious fur babies when you're looking to adopt.

Ugh, my heart broke into a million pieces watching this. It's so true that older dogs or dogs with negative stereotypes keep potential adopters away. All pets should be given the same chance to have a loving, forever home.

"This kills my soul. I want to take them all!" said @karamarialarson. You and me both! It's now more important than ever that people step up to help these overrun shelters. As the caption said, rescues are tired, shelters are tired so adopting, fostering, and even donating can truly go a long way. @daniellaaaa84 added, "Breaks my heart. We need to do better. This is unacceptable. Hope those babies all find loving homes." That's all I ask for.

The shelter highlighted in this video, Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, is located in Alabama. If you'd like to adopt one of these precious angels, please visit their website for more information. And if you aren't located near Tuscaloosa, look at what animals are in need of forever homes in your area. This is a problem nationwide. Time to help these adorable babies!
