The Heartbreaking Reason Kenny Chesney Had to Miss the CMA Awards
Kenny Chesney is nominated in two categories at the 2018 Country Music Association Awards: Musical Event of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. He was also slated to perform during the night. Sadly, the country singer had to miss the awards show for the most heartbreaking reason.
"@KennyChesney will be unable to appear on tonight's telecast due to a death in the family," the CMA tweeted hours before the event.

Of course, fans responded with their support and sympathy. "We're so sorry to hear this," one wrote. "Keeping Kenny and his family in our thoughts and prayers."
The star has not yet released a statement on his website or social media, although he did take to Twitter to share the happy news of his collaboration with David Lee Murphy winning the CMA for Musical Event of the Year.
"Sometimes you hear songs & they just feel good. Occasionally one that feels good says something that people need to hear," Kenny wrote in the post. "That’s how I felt about Everything’s Gonna Be Alright when I heard it. Proud to have been part of this with my friend."
