People with trypophobia have strong reactions to patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. Psychologists are skeptical of what, exactly, trypophobia is and why some people have such adverse reactions to specific images. Some theorize if it should be classified as generalized fear toward dangerous things, or if it's an extension of other disorders like generalized anxiety disorder. Studies indicate that trypophobia involves some visual discomfort, particularly toward imagery with a certain spatial frequency.
