Health, wellness, and reading take center stage at Diamond Park event

May 20—An evening focused on holistic well-being and literacy will take place in Diamond Park on Wednesday from 6 to 7:30.

"Books, Band-Aids and Being Our Best" kicks off at Meadville Public Library, where families will receive maps and bags to guide them through the activities. After a fun-filled adventure complete with games, take-aways, face painting and free books, participants will return to the library to exchange their maps for a healthy take-home snack.

The event will promote health, cultivate the joy of reading among families, and provide a glimpse into health careers. The evening is a collaboration between Crawford Central School District, Meadville Medical Center, Meadville Public Library, and the Crawford County K-12 Career Education Alliance.

Highlights of the event include interactive sessions with representatives from different departments of Meadville Medical Center. From nursing to respiratory, lab to pharmacy, participants can engage directly with professionals and learn more about various aspects of health care. Additionally, Crawford Central reading specialists will be present to provide resources and support for literacy development.

School Resource Officer Nicolas Mogel will be on hand to share crucial information to address concerns about vaping, highlighting the importance of awareness and prevention. For a light-hearted approach to education, school nurse Sue Mulvey will delight listeners with a reading of "The School Nurse from the Black Lagoon."

This event is part of Remake Learning Days, an innovative learning festival for families and youth taking place across the world this month.

Register for the event online at craw.org.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will take place inside the library at 848 N. Main St.
