HBO's 100 Foot Wave will be back for season three.

The docuseries is all about giant waves and the people who ride them, including the North Shore's Garrett McNamara and other big wave surfers like Andrew Cotton, Justine Dupont, and Kai Lenny.

According to a press release, the show focuses on McNamara, his family, and other big wave chasers "in Nazaré, Portugal as they push the boundaries of their sport and the limits of their minds and bodies."

The post pretty much says it all, but HBO captioned it:

"It comes in waves.#100FootWave, the Emmy Award-winning documentary series, will return for a third season."

For those who need to catch up before season three rolls in, the first two are available on Max.

“We’re thrilled the search for the legendary 100 foot wave will continue and excited to expand on the incredible universe of surfers and stories in pursuit," executive producer Joe Lewis said in the press release. "So much gratitude goes to the McNamara family, the big wave community, the brilliant production team, the town of Nazaré, and our amazing partners at HBO for bringing the series to life."

Unsurprisingly, the docuseries was popular with surfers but held its own outside of the surf world too.

Season two was nominated for six Emmy awards including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program, and Outstanding Writing for a Nonfiction Program.

It won the Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program for season one.

Earlier this year, McNamara captioned a clip he posted on his Instagram page: "This is only possible because of the incredible support from all of you and the country of Portugal."
