Viewers are still reeling over the White Lotus season 2 finale (and Jennifer Coolidge's iconic performance), which aired in December 2022 on HBO Max. So of course, fans are anxious to find out when they can expect more episodes of the juicy anthology series.

Luckily, series creator Mike White has shared details about season 3, including what we can expect and where the season might take place. Also, an HBO executive just teased the idea that White pitched, and it's gotten us even more amped for new episodes.

Here’s everything we know (so far) about The White Lotus season 3.

1. What Is The White Lotus Season 3 About?

The White Lotus takes….Asia? While attending the premiere for season two, creator, writer and director Mike White teased the possibility of traveling to Asia. “I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent,” he said. “You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.”

In an interview with Deadline, White further confirmed our suspicions. “The first season we highlighted money and then the second season is sex, and I think the third season, it would be maybe a kind of satirical and funny look at death in Eastern religion and spirituality,” he said. “It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”

Most recently, HBO executive Casey Bloys got fans excited at the Series Mania Festival, where he teased the season 3 plotline, as reported by Variety. “[White] just pitched us the idea and it’s great,” Bloys told the audience. “It’s a really fun idea and he’s shown it’s possible.”

2. Did HBO Renew The White Lotus for Season 3?

That’s correct. In a statement, White revealed that it was a no-brainer to renew The White Lotus for season 3, and only a few episodes into the second season, HBO gave the anthology series the green light.

“There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO, and there’s no people I’d rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team,” White said. “I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus.”

3. Well, Is There a Trailer?

As of right now, there is no trailer for The White Lotus season 3 (*wipes tear*). But when it becomes available, you’ll be the first ones to know.

So far, all we have is the teaser clip that was posted to the official Instagram account for the series.

In the video, an underwater scene plays in the background before text appears that says: “Another vacation is in your future.” Then it says, “The White Lotus season 3.” The caption along with the clip read, “At #TheWhiteLotus, we manifest the things our guests desire into existence. We can’t wait to welcome you to our next White Lotus property.”

4. Who Will Be in the Cast?

This is the tricky part. Since the second season follows a different group of vacationers staying in an Italian White Lotus resort, it’s hard to tell who will return for future installments. For the second season, Coolidge returned as Tanya McQuoid (but, *spoiler*—based on that season 2 finale, we have a feeling Coolidge won't be returning for the third installment). So, the cast could potentially consist of entirely new faces, and for now, it still remains a mystery.

During the Series Mania Festival, Bloys said that White is “casting people you know.” However, the HBO exec added that White is writing them “[in a way that] allows you to rediscover them or see them in a new light.”

5. Could There Be Any Surprise Returning Characters?

While history indicates there will be an almost entirely new cast for season 3 of The White Lotus, there have been clues that we may see some familiar faces—specifically actress Connie Britton, who played Nicole Mossbacher in season 1.

While talking with Deadline back in July 2022, Britton said, “[Mike White] wanted me to be in the second season, and there was an idea that I loved for the character. Our intention is to do it in the third season. A piece of casting didn’t work in the second season and we’re hoping to that in the third season. I would love to see a spinoff on every character in that show.” (So would we, Connie.)

6. Is There a Release Date for The White Lotus Season 3?

Sadly, there is not. The first season premiered in July 2021 and aired through August of that same year. Then, season 2 premiered in October of 2022 and aired its finale in December. So, if we had to guess, we're betting that season 3 will air at some point in the late summer/early fall of 2023.

All we know is that it’ll be worth the wait.
