Introducing HB Obsessed: a design-forward list of our favorite home products right now. Elevate your home with gems that marry beauty and function—straight from our own carts to yours.

For growing families, it's standard to pass down clothes, toys, and cribs. Maybe that's why so many brands are creating nursery essentials with the idea that they'll resurface when a little brother or sister arrives. At House Beautiful, we're always on the hunt for design-forward, high-value options that will earn their keep as hand-me-downs. Enter, Nestig's Wave Crib, the internet's favorite convertible crib that grows with your family.

The moment our Executive Editor Amanda Sims Clifford came across the Nestig Wave Crib, she knew it would be a lovely addition to her daughter's nursery. Now, with a second bundle of joy on the way, this family-approved bed is transitioning back to a mini crib! With clean lines and flexible function, Nestig's Wave Crib proves that it's possible to build a design-forward nursery that lasts the long haul.

Read on to learn why this design-savvy mom is obsessing over the Nestig crib.

The Design

Available in natural wood and white, The Wave Crib is a breath of fresh air for parents seeking to spruce up their nursery. The bed is sleek, modern, and neutral enough to never go out of style. Like many other convertible cribs, The Wave is three-in-one: mini crib, full crib, and toddler bed. The crib's rounded silhouette was inspired by the ocean, with a go-with-the-flow vibe that suits multiple design aesthetics.

"It’s chic but discreet all at once, which is more than you can normally count on in a nursery. Not too cutesy, not too grown up, not too much of a look that we could ever tire of it," Clifford explains.

The mini crib and full crib feature lockable wheels, which makes rearranging the room or moving the crib from room to room a breeze. The family-run company is committed to using non-toxic materials, like the frame's sustainably harvested Brazilian pine, and quality you can trust. The rounded corners are safe for a toddler and a sweet contrast to some harder edges in the room.

"One of my favorite features of the Wave is how low the mattress can be set, almost like a platform bed," Clifford shares. "When I’m singing my daughter to sleep or rubbing her back, I can do so while sitting on the ground and reaching over the side instead of bending all the way over standing up."

A downside Clifford notes is that the mini mattress included is thin and not a true mattress; you’d need to buy a thicker one if you were using the mini crib full time.

Features:

  • JPMA-certified

  • Mini crib with a mini mattress

  • Conversion kit to full crib

  • Conversion kit to toddler bed

  • Three adjustable mattress heights

  • Lockable wheels

Now that Clifford's daughter is transitioning to the toddler bed configuration, she’ll be right at ground level—a way shorter distance for crawling out of bed. And the lockable wheels have also come in handy. "Casters mean I can rearrange her room easily as we, say, bring in a small desk in lieu of her changing table," Clifford explains.

Why We're Obsessed

Clifford’s Wave Crib fits into the nursery effortlessly. Amanda Sims Clifford

The Wave Crib has an unmistakable heirloom quality that won't detract from the thoughtful design of your home. And, thankfully, high design isn't code for impossible to assemble. "I think we knocked out assembly in an hour or so, even with a toddler trying to grab tools and 'help.'" Clifford says. "The parts are heavy, which is very reassuring because it’s not going to fall apart, but maybe better to have your kid in the other room while you’re lifting and assembling."

You'll be spending hours at your child's bedside. Why not make it beautiful and functional for years to come?
