The creamy, hydrating texture still gives a shiny finish.

Let’s cut to the chase: I was a lipstick hater. I was never a fan of feeling the thick and often drying sensation on my lips (side-eyeing you, matte liquid lipsticks), and it’s also possible that I was just picking the entirely wrong shades for my complexion.

I recently tried the Makeup Revolution Emily in Paris Just a Kiss Cream Lipstick available at Target, and I’ve officially been converted. At just $8 a tube — an affordable price point that left my jaw on the floor — I tried every color and could not pick a favorite; they were all très magnifique.

The collection, inspired by the hit Netflix series, landed at Target on February 18, and not only has it caused me to yearn for the newest season to drop ASAP (although there’s no official release date yet; je suis sad), but it’s convinced me that I can pull off a red lip and restored my faith in hydrating, creamy lipstick formulas that look flawless on my overly dry pout.

While the collaboration is worth grabbing as a collector's item for fans of the series, it offers more than just pretty and eye-catching packaging. The $8 vegan lipstick is impressive, to say the least — and I’ve spent significantly more on lipsticks only to be left disappointed by them. All three shades, including Mindy (a warm taupe nude), Camille (a pinkish nude), and Emily (a berry red), feature a soft matte finish that looks dewy and glossy, which fulfills my love and preference for lip gloss over lipstick.

Shopping editor and fellow Emily in Paris enthusiast Bridget Degnan also tested the three lippies and praised the hydrating formula for applying “like butter.” She admitted to being super picky about lip products and was “shocked” by how much she loved each color.

Although we have different complexions, we found every shade to be flattering and wearable. In the end, Bridget preferred the Camille shade, while I was fond of the Mindy one. A standout feature for both of us was the sleek and slim packaging, which made for a precise and effortless application that’s ideal for when you’re on the go. Plus, with each color inspired by the three female leads from the show, it was an exciting nod for us as fans.
