Harry Styles’s Saturday Night Live Appearance Was a Fashion Tour de Force

This weekend, Harry Styles was both the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live in New York City. The singer, who is gearing up for a world tour in support of his upcoming album Fine Line next year, performed his single “Lights Up,” as well as a new song, titled “Watermelon Sugar.” Aside from the comic skits and musical performances, however, Styles also pulled off a fashion tour de force—and it was all about embracing his trademark retro sensibility.

The Gucci-filled night began with his opening monologue look. The singer, who has a penchant for flamboyant suits, went for a more pared-back style, though it still had plenty of his signature details, comprising of a double-breasted blazer with a blue silk shirt and yellow wide-leg trousers. Styles has been rocking the ’70s-style flared pant a lot lately, and clearly it’s a trend he’s sticking with.

Then, as the show progressed, the looks got progressively bolder, with Styles wearing two further looks that continued on his strong suit game. One fit, in head to toe red, featured modern updates on suiting up, such as oversized lapels and a silky polo shirt in place of a classic button-up. His final winning ensemble? A black sequinned jumpsuit with a plunging V neckline, complete with a cross necklace and tons of chunky rings—a statement look that undeniably stole the show.
