Harry Styles has touched down in New York City for his upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live, and his earth-shaking presence in the Big Apple has unleashed packs of enthusiastic fans awaiting his appearance. (In fact, Harry lovers are already bracing the frost and camping out for SNL tickets at NBC headquarters.) It isn’t hard to see why: Styles is hypnotic. He is the glossily-maned king of quirk; the pretty green-eyed prince of sexadelic funkiness. Those cheeks are just so healthy. (They always appear pinched!) That slightly overgrown scruff has the quintessential amount of bristle. (Does it even itch when he’s growing it out?) Those teeth are so straight. (I bet he never even needed braces.)

And now, Styles—never one afraid to take sartorial risks—can also boast the rare ability to make a sweater vest look hot; even a Lanvin sweater vest covered in sheep. Last night, after leaving his SNL rehearsal, the singer stepped out in a nubby blue sweater vest covered in the print. The piece would have appeared a little dorky on someone else, but not on Harry: Gen Z’s favorite rockstar paired the piece with a striped shirt (sleeves rolled up past the elbow), wide-leg pinstripe pants, and patent leather shoes in bubblegum pink. In theory, nothing here should work, but it does. The clash of bold stripes and kitschy graphics is like a delicious optical illusion. The pants are hiked-up just enough to add a hint of tailoring and definition to the silhouette, while the shoes and their uplifting color make for a perfect contrast.

We expect Harry to be on a style tear this week. This morning, he also announced a world tour in support of his forthcoming album, Fine Line, for which he’ll be hitting the road Jenny Lewis and King Princess. He posed for the promo image in an unbuttoned fuchsia button-up shirt with matching suspenders, ribcage-skimming wide-leg white flares, and heeled boots. (Styles accessorized the look with his Crest commercial-worthy smile.) But Styles has continued to flex his fashion chops on the street, too—just yesterday, he stepped out in a $3,500 Gucci coat. Our only question? What will he wear onstage for SNL. (Our bets are on Gucci.) Either way, right now it seems it’s Harry’s world and we’re just living in it—or at least waiting in line to see it.
