Harry Styles' Mom Defending Him from Haters Proves the Mama Bear Instinct Never Goes Away

Poke a mama bear’s cub, and her claws will come out in full force! Harry Styles’ mom Anne Twist proved this after she defended her son from judgy comments, and it just goes to show that you are never too old to need your mother!

The “As It Was” singer debuted his new buzzcut last week. The Pleasing Fragrance Instagram account posted a photo of Styles wearing a black-and-white sweater and posing with a shorn cut during the company’s launch in London, and fans were decidedly not happy with the look.

“glue it back on,” one person rudely wrote.

Someone else dramatically commented, “a part of me loves it, a part of me is crying on my bedroom floor.”

Others took to Twitter to blast Styles, including people comparing him to his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s new boyfriend Travis Kelce. “harry styles’ new haircut is giving ‘your new girl is my clone,’” one person wrote alongside a side-by-side of Styles and Kelce, referencing Swift’s new “Is It Over Now” song.

“This is an absolute crime. He literally looks like a prisoner #HarryStyles #haircut,” another said.

Some people spoke out to defend the former One Direction singer. “I know some of y’all aren’t really unstanning Harry Styles over a haircut,” one person wrote. “Like wtf is wrong with you. It’s hair, it’ll grow back. He’s still the same person. It’s fine to not particularly like it but being that serious over something that has literally no impact on you personally is wild.” Seriously!

But his biggest supporter was his mom. She shared a picture of Styles on Instagram and a screenshot of an article that reportedly quoted a fan saying Styles’ haircut “ruined my entire life.” Twist clapped back at people who were hating on Styles in her caption.

“When you consider that H has a legacy of kindness and inclusion, has always made every effort to make everyone feel seen and appreciated for exactly who they are … there’s an irony in the negativity he’s been shown for having a haircut,” Twist wrote.

“Sorry but I don’t get it 🤷🏻‍♀️#TPWK,” she added, referencing her son’s “Treat People With Kindness” phrase.

Mama Styles is a big supporter of Styles, often singing and dancing at his concerts. In an interview with Daily Mail in April 2023, she opened up about the pride she has in Styles and her daughter Gemma.

“I’m very proud of both Harry and his older sister Gemma and the adults they’ve become,” she said. “They’re both really hard working, they’ve got good morals and they’re really kind people.”

“I know it sounds like a dreadful cliche but as long as they’re happy, that’s the most important thing,” she added.

And if they’re not happy? Well, Twist will clearly do everything she can to change that — even if it means calling out the haters. It doesn’t matter how old or how famous you are, moms are always going to be overprotective of their babies!
