Harry Styles hopped on Instagram to throw the most subtle shade at conservative commentator Candace Owens after she criticized his Vogue cover.

The 26-year-old broke the internet after gracing the magazine’s December issue in a full-length Gucci ball gown, becoming the first-ever man to appear solo on a Vogue cover. Styles is known for challenging gender norms, expressing himself through a variety of clothing from suits and blazers to fishnets and skirts.

And while both Vogue and Styles were applauded for doing so, they were also met with some backlash. Following the cover release, Owens shared her disappointment on Twitter, emphasizing that society should “bring back manly men.”

“There is no society that can survive without strong men,” she tweeted. “The East knows this. In the west, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It is an outright attack.”

But the “Watermelon Sugar” singer wouldn’t let Owens have the last word and came through with a perfect (and unbothered) response. He posted a picture of himself wearing a blue pleated suit while eating a banana with the caption: “Bring back manly men.”

Styles told Variety that he has no regrets about his decision and clearly he’s not letting any haters get to him or his historic cover.

“To not wear (something) because it’s females’ clothing, you shut out a whole world of great clothes," he said. "And I think what’s exciting about right now is you can wear what you like. It doesn’t have to be X or Y. Those lines are becoming more and more blurred.”
