Harry Styles Can’t Pronounce Shawn Mendes’s Last Name Correctly, and Shawn Is Totally Okay With It
Harry Styles did a hilarious skit on Saturday Night Live last week.
In the skit, Harry completely butchered the pronunciation on Shawn Mendes’s last name, but Shawn is totally fine with it.
Good morning, y’all! It is yet another beautiful day to stan the living crap out of Harry Styles for being Harry Styles, but you already knew that—let’s be real. So why are we stanning Harry today? Well, his appearance on Saturday Night Live might have happened on Saturday, but citizens of the internet (hi, me) are still spiraling over the best tidbit of his appearance. That’s right, I’m talking about the now-infamous Sara Lee sketch.
In the sketch, Harry plays Dylan, a Sara Lee employee who’s caught sending ~saucy~ messages to famous celebrity hot boys from the corporate Instagram account after mistaking it for his own. Dylan left a comment saying “Wreck me, daddy” on Nick Jonas’s IG pics (hard same) and was confronted about sliding into Shawn Mendes’s DMs. And while the skit was hilarious, obvi, people seemed really fixated on the fact that Harry pronounced Shawn’s name wrong.
Harry didn’t pronounce Shawn’s first name wrong (honestly, thank god??), but he did pronounce Shawn’s last name, Mendes, incorrectly. Instead of saying “Shawn Men-DES,” Harry said “Shawn Men-DEEZ” (as in, deez nuts...sorry, Mom).
Welp, Shawn caught wind of Harry’s mispronunciation, but the good news here is that Shawn is completely okay with it!

But instead, he was totally chill. IDK about y’all, but I am absolutely living for this friendship. Now, what the heck is it gonna take for them to hop in the studio and collab on a song? Asking for...literally everyone on the planet!
