Fans freaked out earlier this month over the news that the ENTIRE Harry Potter series would be moving to Netflix on January 15. However, many were disappointed when they woke up that day and discovered that the films aren't actually on the streaming service.

Unless you live in Australia or New Zealand, the movies won't be available to watch on Netflix just yet.

Yep, the Harry Potter series will not be added to US Netflix in January.

Things in America get a little more complicated. The films were available in the US through Freeform's Harry Potter marathons and on HBO GO/Now. However, since 2018, the films moved to NBC Universal after they purchased the rights to the movies.

Fans who are sad that the films aren't available on the streaming giant shouldn't lose hope, thanks to the new deal, they are airing on USA/Syfy. While they are not currently streaming on their websites, they're working on making them available on there soon.

The contract also included the Fantastic Beasts series, so fans who are hoping to watch Newt's adventures from their couch will also be able to watch them on USA/Syfy. Netflix might get the chance to buy the rights from NBC Universal, who also owns all the Harry Potter theme parks, in 2025, when their contact is up.

Until then, all of the movies are also available on iTunes, Amazon, YouTube and Google Play. Hardcore Harry Potter fans might want to invest in the boxed set though so they can watch the films whenever they want.
