From Town & Country

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex only launched their Instagram account a few months ago, but they're already using the social platform in a unique way to highlight the causes they care about. Each month, the royals try to raise awareness about a key issue by having their handle, @SussexRoyal, follow a variety of people and organizations working to affect change in a specific arena.

For example, in May, Harry and Meghan focused on mental health awareness, following accounts from Anxiety U.K., the Kind Campaign, and Black Mental Health Matters. And in June, they supported the LGBTQ+ community in honor of pride month, shining a spotlight on groups like the Trevor Project, Stonewall U.K., and PFLAG.

In July, the @SussexRoyal handle is being used to highlight environmental issues, and recently followed accounts including the World Wide Fund for Nature, Dr. Jane Goodall, and former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg, who launched Beyond Carbon, a campaign to end climate change, last month.

"As a continuation of our monthly social awareness approach to shine a light on the accounts that are working towards positive change, for the month of July we turn our attention to the environment," reads the caption on a new post announcing the focus. Bloomberg is tagged alongside 14 others in the photo.

"There is a ticking clock to protect our planet - with climate change, the deterioration of our natural resources, endangerment of sacred wildlife, the impact of plastics and microplastics, and fossil fuel emissions, we are jeopardizing this beautiful place we call home - for ourselves and for future generations. Let’s save it. Let’s do our part."

It's unclear at this point if the Sussexes plan to work with Bloomberg directly this month or in the future, or if Bloomberg is personally acquainted with the Duchess. But we do know he met the Duke of Sussex several years ago when Prince Harry was in New York in 2010.
