Ever since he nabbed roles in George LucasAmerican Graffiti (1973) and Star Wars (1977), Harrison Ford's career has been nonstop.

The Hollywood actor is now 80 and still starring in big-name films, such as the new Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny film. But Ford revealed in a new interview that his career likely hindered his success as a parent.

Speaking with Esquire, the conversation eventually turned to children, and Ford admitted, "I can tell you this: If I’d been less successful, I’d probably be a better parent.”

He added, "And certainly the more constant gardener is the better parent, and I’ve been out of town, up my own ass, for most of my life.”

But according to Ford, while he has faults just like everyone else, he accepts them, noting, "I think that’s tantamount to ‘I know who the f--k I am.’”

While his wife, Calista Flockhart, 58, encourages him to go to therapy, Ford said, "I do take mental health seriously. I was trying to say, as I explained to her: It’s that I accommodate all of the flaws that people go to psychiatrists to accommodate, because I accept my flaws."

"I accept my flaws and my failures—I don’t accept them, I own them," he declared.

Ford has five children. He shares Benjamin, 56, and Willard, 54, with his first wife, illustrator Mary Marquard, and had Malcolm, 35, and daughter Georgia, 32, with his second wife, the late screenwriter Melissa Mathison. Ford also adopted Flockhart's son Liam, 22, when the two got married in 2010.

Ford and Flockhart recently attended Liam's graduation from Amherst College, shortly after going to Cannes for the premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The film will hit theaters on June 30.
