Harrison Ford Shares How He Really Feels About Ke Huy Quan's Comeback

Indiana Jones and Short Round may not have seen each other since 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, but actors Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan were recently reunited for the first time in 38 years at the D23 expo, delighting fans.

"He had that classic, you know, grumpy Harrison look on his face, and then he raised his hand up and pointed a finger at me," Quan recalled in a recent Vanity Fair profile. "I swear, I thought he was going to say, 'Don’t you get near me,' but instead he said, 'Are you Short Round?' And I was immediately transported back to 1984. I said, 'Yes, Indy, it’s me.'"

Speaking to Uproxx, Ford reflected on how it felt to see his old sidekick again, and commented on the critical praise being heaped on Quan for his anchoring performance opposite Michelle Yeoh in this year's hit movie Everything Everywhere All at Once.

"Yeah, it was great to see him," said Ford. "I mean… I’ve had the opportunity to see the film. He is really terrific in his movie. And I’m so glad to see him… and what he has become. I’m so happy for him... And well deserved! Well deserved."

Quan followed his breakout role in Temple of Doom with a performance in another beloved '80s movie, The Goonies, in which he played the gadgeteer Data. However, these early successes were followed by a lengthy lack of work, and Quan eventually quit acting in favor of working behind the camera, eventually assistant-directing 2046, filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai's sequel to In the Mood for Love.

But thanks to the critical and commercial success of Everything Everywhere All at Once, that's all changed. And with Quan now back in the Hollywood fold, it's possible that he and Ford may work together again.

He might not be involved in Ford's upcoming final chapter as Indy, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, but Ford and Quan will both soon be making their debut appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Quan has signed on for Season 2 of the Disney+ series Loki, while Ford will be taking over the role of Thunderbolt Ross in the next Captain America movie. Given the MCU's tendency to weave its disparate storylines together, an on-screen reunion isn't out of the question.
