Haraway named GMAC Player of the Week for second time in three weeks

Feb. 21—ASHLAND — Former Norwalk High School standout Brandon Haraway continues to dominate at the collegiate level.

The NCAA Division II Ashland University guard earned his second Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week recognition in three weeks, the league announced on Monday.

In two GMAC wins at Cedarville and vs. No. 13-ranked Hillsdale, the 2019 Norwalk graduate averaged 30.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and five assists per game. He also shot 59.5 percent from the floor, including 46 percent from the three-point line and 85 percent at the free-throw line.

Haraway scored 30 points at Cedarville on Feb. 16, which included the game-winning 3-pointer in the closing seconds. He then added a season-high 31 two days later in the win over Hillsdale.

Also on Monday, Haraway was named one of HomeTeam's Div. II men's basketball Players of the Week. He has scored 122 points in his last five games (24.4 average).

Haraway is currently averaging 16.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game for the Eagles (18-8, 14-4), who will play their final regular-season home game of the season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday vs. Malone (14-10, 9-9). He was also the GMAC Player of the Week on Feb. 6.

A former Mr. Basketball finalist and All-Ohio first team selection for the Truckers, Haraway's 1,481 points at Ashland are currently 13th in program history. With 20 points on Thursday, he can move into 11th, while he is 43 points from reaching the top 10.

Ashland enters the game in a three-way tie in the loss column with Hillsdale and Walsh for first place atop the GMAC standings. The Eagles are assured of a GMAC tournament quarterfinal home game on Feb. 28.
