The iCarly revival is finally here and while most of our faves are returning, not everyone is back. But that doesn't mean that their characters are gone for good either. Luckily for all of us, iCarly gave us a much-needed update on Sam Puckett as Carly and Freddie reunite to restart Carly's web series. So what is our favorite troublemaker up to? And why isn't she coming back?

Here's everything you need to know about what happened to Sam in the iCarly revival.

Where is Sam in the iCarly revival?

Even though Jennette McCurdy is not reprising her role for the revival, iCarly gave us a much-needed update on Sam Puckett as Carly and Freddie reunite to restart Carly's web series.

Carly: I need Sam, but she's off following her bliss with that biker gang.

Freddie: Ah, The Obliteraters. I hope she's okay.

Carly: It's Sam. I hope they're okay.

Luckily for us, this leaves the door open for Sam to return in the future, so it might not be over for her just yet.

Why isn't Sam in the iCarly revival?

Earlier this year, Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam Puckett in the original series, revealed that she had no plans to come back and play her character again.

"I resent my career in a lot of ways," she said on her podcast, Empty Inside. "I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing."

She noted that she was on the show from the age of 13 to 21 and by the time she was 15, she was already embarrassed by it. "My friends at 15, they're not like, 'Oh, cool, you're on this Nickelodeon show.' It was embarrassing. And I imagine there's a very different experience to be had with acting if you're proud of your roles, and if you feel fulfilled by them."

Miranda Cosgrove revealed that she reached out to Jennette about the revival series prior to starting on it.

"We all called her separately and we really wanted her to be a part of it, but at the same time I'm happy for her because I know that she's taken her in a different direction and that she's really enjoying what she's doing right now," she told E! News. "So I think we all kind of did what we were probably meant to do."

Unfortunately, it looks like we won't be seeing Sam during the first season. But at least Jeanette is happier and has the support of her co-stars behind her!
