Brothers Joshua and Benny Safdie have been making movies together since youth and have been cooking up magic as a dynamic duo, directing hits such as Good Time and Uncut Gems, which catapulted them to fame.

Benny Safdie has had a breakout year as an actor, starring in Kelly Fremon Craig's Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, as well as collaborating with Nathan Fielder on the new television show The Curse.

Both Safdie brothers have been busy with individual projects, but what about The Safdie Brothers as a duo?

In an interview with Variety, Benny said the duo going solo was "a natural progression of what we each want to explore", saying, "I will direct on my own, and I will explore things that I want to explore. I want that freedom right now in my life".

They were supposed to have an untitled collaboration with Adam Sandler and Megan Thee Stallion in post-production, but Variety revealed that Benny "did not co-write the script and hasn't been a meaningful part of the creative process". That movie is now "on pause", and when Variety asked if the two might co-direct again in the future, he said, "I don't know".

So what will become of The Safdie Brothers? As a duo, perhaps we may have seen the final collaboration in Uncut Gems, but as solo talent, they are soaring on their own, so there are certainly more great things to come.
