The beloved comedy Ted Lasso is finally back, for what may be its final season. But the last episode of season two aired in October 2021, so even big fans may have forgotten the specifics of what happened when we last were with AFC Richmond. Here's a handy, brief guide on where we left each character at the end of Ted Lasso season two:

Ted

Ted is struggling with his future in England as the football season comes to a close, and wondering if it was the right decision to take the job, so far from his son. Trent Crimm has published a story in The Independent about his panic attacks, and Ted talks to the team and apologies for not being forthcoming with them.

Keeley

Keeley is offered the chance to lead her own PR firm because of the success of her Bantr campaign with the team, and she decides to take it, and leave the nest of Richmond. She's nervous to tell Rebecca, but Higgins tells her, "Keeley, a good mentor hopes you will move on. A great mentor knows you will."

Roy

Roy is feeling adrift in his relationship with Keeley, after he learns he's been cut out of her Vanity Fair shoot. When he tries to make a big romantic gesture for their last day working in the same building, buying plane tickets for a six-week vacation to Marbella, Keeley says she can't go, but he should. When he asks if they're breaking up, she says no, that she loves him, and that they will be fine. Still, the couple definitely ends the season on shaky ground.

Nate

Nate confronts Ted at the halftime of the last game, telling him, "You made me feel like I was the most important person in the whole world, and then you abandoned me. I worked my ass off trying to get your attention back, to prove myself to you, to make you like me again, but the more I did, the less you cared. It was like I was fucking invisible."

After dealing with growing resentment towards Ted, he decides to join the coaching staff of West Ham United, a team now owned by Rebecca's ex-husband, Rupert. As he leaves, he tears the "BELIEVE" sign in the AFC Richmond locker room, and tells Ted he should be with his son. He also gets angry with Roy for not being angry with him about his attempt to kiss Keeley. Yikes!

Rebecca

Rebecca is supportive of Ted in his mental health struggles in the final episode, and celebrates the team making the Premier League. She also learns of Rupert buying West Ham, which makes her understand why he gave back his shares in Richmond.

Sam

After being offered the chance to leave by Ghanian billionaire Edwin Akufo and play for a new African Football Club, he decides to stay and play for Richmond. "I’m staying because it’s what’s best for me and my personal journey," he tells Rebecca, whom he had previously been romantically involved with. (They broke up in the wake of Rebecca's father's death.) Later, we see him purchase a property that he intends to make a Nigerian restaurant.

Jamie

Not in the finale, but in the end of season two, Jamie confesses he still has feelings for Keeley, and in the finale, Roy forgives Jamie for this declaration. Jamie also lets Dani take the final penalty kick, showing his evolution as a team player. (It's a big deal, as Dani killed Richmond's old mascot with a penalty kick in the first episode of season two, and hasn't been able to take a penalty since.)

Trent Crimm

Trent later is fired for telling Ted who his source was (Nate), and will no longer be at the Independent. Ted tells him, "I hope our paths cross again soon." We'll likely be seeing more of him in season three, but in a different role.

Sharon

The therapist leaves the team in the penultimate episode, but still talks to Ted on the phone. It's unclear if she'll be back!

AFC Richmond, broadly

In the final game of the season (the football season and season two), the Greyhounds tie their opponents, which allows them to return to the Premier League.
