The Handmaid’s Tale’s Yvonne Strahovski Tries to Recap Serena Joy’s Worst Moments in Under 2 Minutes

For four years now, Yvonne Strahovski has been terrifying audiences in the best way possible as Serena Joy on The Handmaid’s Tale.

In honor of StyleCaster’s “World of Style” issue and with season 5 now on Hulu, we asked Strahovski to give us a quick refresher on the entire show – specifically the last four seasons. For some extra fun, we decided to pile on a little Gilead-style pressure and asked her to do it just two minutes! Easy right? Let’s just say, Strahovski puts the “joy” in Serena Joy. Though the clock rule meant nothing to her, she managed to recap all the “terrible, terrible things” Serena has done in a hilariously terrible way.

Strahovski has played the villain to Elisabeth Moss’s June for almost five years. Since day one, June and Serena may have been “under his eye” but have never seen eye to eye. Also, Serena stole June’s baby, which was, quite frankly, rude. And why did she do that? Strahovski jokes that it’s “because she’s such a lovely person.” In our video, Strahovski managed to describe every awful thing her evil on-screen alter ego has done, wincing with each new horror.

Strahovski also tried to explain all the complicated relationships in The Handmaid’s Tale, including Fred and Serena, June and Fred, June and Serena’s driver, Nick, June and Luke, and of course, June and Serena. She got so into recapping that she almost spoiled something for season 5. All in all, Strahovski proved she’s like all of us when she said: “And then June comes back,” infuriating audiences everywhere. Yes, June. Stop going back to Gilead. But June is June, and Serena is Serena. June will never stop trying to save her daughter, Hannah. And Serena will never stop being evil.
