Who Handed Meghan Markle Her Bouquet at the Royal Wedding?

There were many moments viewers and fans missed during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding at Windsor Castle this May, including the Duke of Sussex whispering “You look amazing” to his bride, as well as other subdued, quiet instances that faded into obscurity.

Most recently, however, eagle-eyed fans noticed one particular interaction between Markle and a woman in a fitted dress with a fascinator leading up to the Suits star’s long walk down the aisle inside St. George’s Chapel. Video footage shows the mysterious person handing Markle her bouquet right as she enters the doors of the ceremony site, leading many fans to believe that dutiful individual was none other than Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

However, the reality is that the mom of three had already taken her seat by then at the way front of the chapel beside Prince William, where other members of the royal family had also taken their respective positions.

That mysterious flash of an assistant is believed to be Samantha Cohen, the former assistant and private secretary of Queen Elizabeth II. The Australian-born royal insider reportedly submitted her resignation, but will remain on staff as an interim private secretary to both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

It’s understandable why there was some confusion between Middleton and Cohen. Both chose lighter color ensembles for the day with similar-sized fascinators.

Meanwhile, the bouquet itself was incredibly sentimental in meaning and value. The beautiful floral cocktail included Princess Diana’s favorite flowers, Forget-Me-Nots, as well as several hand-picked flowers by Prince Harry himself. The complete bouquet was tied together by a silk ribbon designed by Philippa Craddock.
