New Hampshire Ski Area Closes After 1 Day Of Operation
Mt. Eustis Ski Hill in Littleton, New Hampshire, in "the shadow" of the White Mountains, announced their Ski loaner program spring drop off on April 20th, 2024 from 10am - 12pm on the Second floor of the Littleton Opera House. See below.
The ski area also announced that if you can’t make it on Saturday April 20th, you can bring your equipment to our Spring Clean Up Day on Saturday May 11th from 10am-12pm! Help us clean up, enjoy a bbq at noon and drop off your ski gear.
Mt. Eustis wrote that "it saddens us to say that this ski and snowboard season has come to a close."
"We held out as long as we could so you could get in those final tasty turns. The time has come to return the equipment so we can tune it up and get it ready for you and your friends next season."
However, the ski area was only open for one day this season, March 23rd.
While day passes are free with a suggested donation of $5, skiers can buy season passes for $100 for the whole family, $50 for an adult, or $30 for a child.
Their opening (and closing) night saw 85 skiers and riders under the lights.
Mt. Eustis Ski Hill opened all the way back in 1939, but shut down in the early 1980’s. A group of locals came together to "bring back the olden days" of skiing at Mt. Eustis. After two years plus of hard work, they opened for the 2016-2017 season in December.
This success came largely from the help of Board Members, volunteers and the outpouring support from the community.
Since skiers skied free (or with a $5 donation), it's hard to complain about the length of the season. See below.
The ski area also reports being "thrilled" that the Ski Loaner program continually grows year-to-year with nearly 125 sets of skis and 10 snowboards going out to the community.
"A huge shoutout to Bretton Woods and Burton's Chill Program for hooking us up with some fresh gear to keep this party rolling. We hope you had a great season!"
Unique stories like this are the soul of ski culture. Sure, it's no Alaska heli trip or 150-day ski season marked on the calendar, but it's community, roots, and combined efforts to enjoy the love of the sport.
