This New Hampshire Fixer-Upper Comes With Its Own Christmas Tree Farm
It's being sold "as is" as part of an estate sale, but the fact that this charming home needs some TLC makes it all the more lovable in our book. Set on six pastoral acres abutting conservation land, this historic cape for sale in rural Webster, New Hampshire might be the sweetest slice of New England we've ever laid eyes on. Now, we're dying to get our hands on it, too.
"Each portion of the house evokes a different feeling," says Tina Birdsall with Keller Williams Realty Metropolitan, who is handling the sale. "When you enter the kitchen you understand a family was raised and loved in this home."
Indeed, you'll find no trace of cold, stainless steel here. The cabinetry was designed and built by the family's father, while the mother hand-stenciled the walls. It's everything an old-fashioned country kitchen should be, complete with a large historical fireplace, beehive oven, and-of course-a rocking chair.
The rest of the home is a throwback to 1795, when craftsmanship mattered and hand-crafted millwork and extra-wide pine floorboards were commonplace. The living room features sliding glass doors (a mid-century touch) that overlook the landscape, connecting the home to the surrounding nature.
The upstairs feels especially quaint and cozy. "Low-hung ceilings with a chimney in each bedroom makes capturing warmth on a cold winter's night easy," says Birdsall.
Of course, this wouldn't be a New Hampshire home without a maple sugar house, which you'll find on-site alongside an original 2.5-hole functioning outhouse and two woodsheds. An original stone foundation survives from an old barn-concord grapes are now growing across the top. A charming post-and-beam fence creates a pasture for grazing animals, and a mature asparagus patch, apple and pear trees, and perennial flower beds keep the farming spirit alive.
Our favorite part? There's also a Christmas tree farm behind the house, featuring hundreds of trees awaiting their chance to spread holiday magic. The former owners were hobby farmers, but did sell several trees to locals over the years.
This is home.
